I feel like its a good enough excuse to maybe give him a break mentally and let him work through some things and maybe get some "rehab" starts in the minors.

Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."

Why would they invent an injury when they can send him down any time they want?

Just to be clear I wasn’t suggesting it…….but whenever a struggling player goes on the IL some people assume it’s a fake injury.

I don't think it was made up, he was a different pitcher after that bunt, I think he did something to it.

Because then they can recall anyone they want.  If it's just sending him down, they can't recall another pitcher who was recently sent down (Koening, Myers).  Not sure who would be available and eligible to be brought up.

Options on the 40 man were Corbin Martin (just came back from injury and has given up runs in all three appearances this year) and Bradley Blalock (AA starter who's been great so far).  So does make sense that they would much prefer Koenig.

Wouldn't that require them to have planned on a sudden injury when they sent Koening down. I just don't buy into the line of thinking the team sends someone down with the thought that they can just DL a starting pitcher with a fake injury if they need him sooner than ten days. To be clear I think there are times teams stash players on the DL but I don't think this is one of them. It's usually done for players that the team wants to keep but can't be sent down.

It also means Hall can't play for a while which isn't ideal for a young pitcher learning how to deal with starting in the majors.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

How long before Gasser is ready?  I may have missed it if he’s been pitching at Nashville.  I know he had bone spurs in his elbow in March.

Think he’s a ways off.  Myers most likely up to fill inngs void.

He can go on a rehab assignment at AAA for up to 30 days and pitch in those games.
