"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

It's getting worrisome that Yelich has been out so long.

I think it'll be mid-May. Hopefully he can get his timing back quickly. Last McCalvy tweet I saw had Yelich saying something about "usually this would be the time I'd rush back, but I've learned not to do that." Or something like that.

I have faith.

If you expected it to be quick I think you had unrealistic expectations. There was just a blurb yesterday that he's started playing long toss and is feeling pretty good, but is taking it slow. That's absolutely the right approach at this point in the year, especially with the team continuing to do well.

So are we actually getting a solid enough sample size to determine that Colin Rea is actually decent? He put up solid back-of-the-rotation type numbers last year, and is following that up with a very solid start to the year this year. In what's been a season of turmoil rotation-wise, he's been a rock so far.

Terrific outing by Rea, again.

The peripherals are screaming hard regression but he just keeps chugging along.

Peripheral stats don't like him, but man he just keeps producing the results.

Wouldn't be shocked if Black ends up taking over in the leadoff spot soon.

I mean, Frelick has been...not good. His analytics are bad too.

Hard contact just isn't there. Plate skills haven't been up to snuff either compared to prospect pedigree.

I wonder if maybe we're getting to the point where the pitchers peripherals love are also going to be the ones more likely to get hurt...

I have always liked Rea. The Kyle Hendricks, really solid number 3 starter kind of guys always seem undervalued.
