The Pirates might actually be on a path to respectibility.

They’ve certainly looked very respectable and competitive in their 5 games against the Brewers so far.

But their offense has been pretty anemic for most of the season. Their 10-9 win over the Cubs on Saturday broke a string of 23 games in which they didn’t score more than 5 runs in any game. In those 23 games they only scored 47 runs and went 6-17, wiping out an 11-5 start during which they averaged almost 5.5 runs per game.

The way they pounded the ball last might it looks like the Brewers might be catching them at a bad time.

I'm in the "let Chourio play and live with the struggles" camp. Obviously, you don't want to destroy his confidence, but I feel like it would be a little hard to do that given that the contract we gave him basically says, "you were worth $80 mil before you even had an MLB AB." There's pressure that comes with that, but the dude just needs to be a regular, everyday major-leaguer for a while. IMO, anyway. He deserves to be here. There's nothing mystical about the MLB compared to Triple A. It's a higher level, but the kid doesn't need magic powers to succeed. Plus, not like there's many better options for that spot in the lineup.

I'd go:

Turang 2B

Contreras DH

Yelich LF

Adames SS

Bauers 1B

Ortiz 3B

Sanchez C

Perkins CF

Chourio RF

Bad Enough to need a second opinion, that doesn't sound good.

Have to think that the sun played a role in Yelich dropping that fly ball.

2nd opinion? Interesting.

I've got better vibes tonight.

When I see second opinion that makes me nervous.

They don’t usually look for a second opinion if the first indication is positive.

Did the MRI detect a tear?

Really frustrating!!!!! Bad Yelich AB, bad Adames.

That's why I never get excited when we have two on with no outs.
