Also of note in this early Box:

  • 18-year-old Pedro Tovar continues his torrid 2024 pace. 2-for-2, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 2B (8th of the year)
  • 18-year-old Kevin Ereu 1-for-1, 2 RBI, 1 BB
  • 17-year-old OF Frandy Lafond 2-for-2, 1 RBI

It is fun looking at a DSL lineup and thinking 1) the top eight all are making a case to be stateside next season and 2) that’s despite three of the top four performers so far being on the other DSL squad.

It’s gotten to the point that I wonder if it changes draft plans moving forward.

Corobo - I am excited to follow him, he was the catcher compared to (yes understanding a lot of hyperbole at signing time) a young J Quero.  But if he has defensive skills and can hit - that could mean our catching WOAH SOLVD 😉

Tovar - second year in the DSl - good to see him hit well and should be state side next year. And Lafond was a late signing (or a January signing that was announced and assigned late maybe?) so didn’t start DsL season on time but so far so good.
Ereu - hopefully he can get on track. But Yophery and DiTuri already in low A is a big deal - I think one of 5 of the “top 50” international players (not including those 20+ at time of signing) who are in A ball.  Impressive for a single class already. Ereu was the other big name, so talent is there still rooting for this young kid.

He did indeed sign back in January. Just a late placement.

Zona Crew win a 3 to 2 pitchers duel in the desert.

Bjorn Johnson allowed one run over the first three innings (2 H | 0 BB | 4 K) before Caden Vire relieved him for a scoreless fourth (1 BB | 1 K).

Jose Meneses almost finished it out working around five hits and four walks until finally allowing a two out unearned run in the top of the ninth before Jesus Broca came on to record the final out.

Luiyin Alastre (double, single, walk, stolen base), Eric Bitonti (single, walk), Johan Barrios (RBI double) and Pedro Ibarguen (double, walk) had nice days at the plate.

Luis Lameda also walked twice but left the game after a pickoff/caught stealing with his replacement Tyler Rodriguez subsequently coming up with what turned out to be the decisive sac fly.

DSL Uno holds on to win a wild one with the final score coming in at 11 to 10.

Best pitching performances belonged to Fabian Reyes (2 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 0 BB | 4 K) and Yeferson Tales (2 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 2 BB | 5 K).

After the DSL Braves had tied it at ten apiece bottom of eight Kegnnalex Seijas came up with the go ahead sac fly for DSL Uno top of nine. He also had a pair of singles and a walk on the day after subbing in for Kevin Ereu partway through the game.

Flame-throwing 22-year old RHP Jacob Misiorowski (3.58 ERA, 1.34 WHIP. 11.6 K/9 in 60.1 IP) starts for AA Biloxi, who aim to polish off a 5-1 home-and-away series win at Mississippi. LF Lamar Sparks has a 5.-game hitting streak and the team welcomes recently-signed RF Connor Scott

26-year old RHP Evan McKendry starts for AAA Nashville on 4 days’ rest, having yielded 1 run with 6 Ks in 5.2 IP on Monday. The Sounds need a home victory over Memphis for a 3-3 series tie. C Brian Navarreto has a 5-game hitting streak.

A Nick Kahle walk followed by a bomb from newcomer Connor Scott has given Biloxi a 2 to 1 lead top of eight.

Final line for Misio was 6.1 IP | 1 ER | 2 H | 2 BB | 10 K with a lead off walk bottom of seven that came around to score once Nate Peterson took over accounting for the lone run.

Nashville up 4 to 1 through six.

A Tyler Black single and Brewer Hicklen blast accounted for two in the first with a bases loaded Black double driving home two more in the sixth.

Evan McKendry went five strong with 1 ER | 3 H | 3 BB | 3 K with Garrett Stallings on for a second inning of work after putting up a zero in the sixth.

TRats leading 3 to 2 through six.

A Luis Lara triple and Matthew Wood sac fly got the first run home with the other two coming via a Tayden Hall double and Eduarqui Fernandez homer.

Joe Ross went 2.2 IP with 1 UER | 3 H | 0 BB | 1 K in his rehab start.

Yujanyer Herrera has followed with 3.0 IP of 1 R | 4 H | 1 BB | 4 K work.

Craig Yoho on to try and nail down the 2 to 1 Biloxi victory bottom of nine.

First batter fouls off six straight oh two pitches, takes three balls to work the count full, and fouls off another pitch for good measure before finally grounding out 5-3.

Yoho gets the second batter looking and the third man up has just reached on an Ernesto Martinez Jr. error.

No matter, Craig comes back and gets a popout to end the game and pick up his second Shuckers save.

Garrett Stallings finished up with 3.1 IP of scoreless relief (2 H | 1 BB | 2 K) before giving way to Mitch White who gets the last two outs of the 4 to 1 Sounds win.

Aaron Rund gave up the game tying run in the top of the eighth, but Luis Lara picked him up by leading off the bottom half with his first round tripper of the year.

Now 4 to 3 Wisco with Luke Adams on second after walking for the second time then stealing a bag, and a Matthew Wood walk has just backfilled first base with Felix Valerio on to pinch run, one out.

Mark Manfredi gets the call to try and lock down the 4 to 3 TRats victory, but has walked a pair around a strikeout to start things off.

A wild pitch & double later Wisco trails 5 to 4.

Posted

Manfredi bounces back and strikes out the next two batters to end the inning.

Will be up to Tayden Hall, Eduarqui Fernandez and Jheremy Vargas (combined 4 for 9 with a 2B and HR today) to get things started with Luis Lara (2 for 4, 3B, HR) waiting if somebody can get on.
