This pitching staff is running out of gas. Too many injuries and mediocre starting pitching. They are gassed and it’s not even the all star break yet.

Gonna have to make room for Hall somehow.

Mitchell not surprising looks bad.

At least he's got a reasonably respectable on base percentage.

The clock certainly seems to have struck midnight and he’s turned back into the pumpkin who had been with six other organizations and on waivers four times in the 12 months  before the Brewers got him.

Nowadays they have all kinds of dumb intricate stats in baseball regarding weird stuff & the last time it happened. I'm wondering about the last time a team walked three times & stole two bases in an inning & didn't score.

I know there are "running out of gas" comments regarding the pitching. With regards to the starters I don't think there have been enough innings for that to happen, save for maybe Myers at some point. Rea has exceeded all expectations; he had a clunker today.

Still don't want to see us spend prospect capital on BP arms like we have in previous years. There are options under contract with the organization if it comes to that, options I'd much rather explore than what we'd trade for.

Some decent vibes re Capra & Haase after Sunday. Back to earth a little today.

It's still early for him, and I know it wasn't exactly an important AB, but Mitchell swinging three times through 93-95 like it was the varsity scrimmaging the freshmen was a pretty ugly look.

Until he looks like Braun.  If he could play there, they would play him there.

Exactly. Capra is a fairly solid infielder w/versatility. One up hop (the play was changed to a hit later) doesn't change that. He actually defended 3B well in LA. Today he didn't get it done. On this day, join the club.

Capra has been there to be a warm body until he can be DFA'ed when so and so comes off the IL. Problem is, he's been seeing way too many at bats; same with Haase.

Pittsburgh gave MKE a taste of their medicine with their "starter" tonight and Murphy bit on it and batted Haase for some unknown reason. He should be seeing about one or two starts a week. Tops. To have him and Capra back-to-back in so many games is a bit of a head-scratcher other than they're just trying to get guys added rest with the break.

I agree, but they both acquitted themselves well on Sunday. Murph took an extra trip to the Capra/Haase well & it bit him. It's a little curious b/c Monasterio was swinging it a little better recently. But despite tonite, Capra is IMO a better glove man & they always are going to emphasize that.

If they're not stretching him out, there's really no reason not to bring Yoho up.

I don't think it's imminent, but certainly a possibility at some point & something that I believe is on their radar. It'll take some 40-man roster mumbo-jumbo.

I will give Mitchell a little slack because this is like his spring training right now.  But by August he better have it together.

This team was so thin on infield depth, they were trying to change a good defensive outfielder and mediocre hitter into a 2B/3B. Should we be shocked they are struggling with infield depth?

There are approximately 19 pitchers on the DL, should we be shocked the staff is struggling?

Hall, Koenig and Williams are close to coming back.

Hopefully the bats wake up a bit.

This might be my favorite Bunch of guys since 2008.

This team has some serious “2014 Brewers” vibes. If they just play .500 here on out they’d win 88-89 games and are likely a lock for the division (Cardinals would have to play .555 baseball just to tie), yet with the last week or so it just seems like 2014 and they’re going to agonizingly fritter away a golden opportunity

It’s hard for fans who have followed the Brewers closely for 20-54 years to ignore the similarities between this season and years like 2014 and several, others in which Brewers teams with low preseason expectations started strong and opened up nice leads in the division but ultimately stumbled and fell out of the playoff picture.

Those stumbles often seem to start just before or just after the All Star break. Hopefully this won’t be another one of those years.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

The three wild card teams help a lot though.   And too be honest winning the division or finishing third in the wild card is not that big of a difference

(which is stupid btw)
