Incredible from Devin. He's the best.

Still can't believe some Brewers fans wanted him in the 8th inning with Megill closing when he came off the IL. He and Clase are in a class of their own since they debuted. Best RP in baseball.

The Brewers just beat the Dodgers with Montas starting.

Baseball.

The Brewers previously beat the Dodgers with Keuchel starting so the way to beat the Dodgers is pretty clear

Probably the same fans that declared we'd be out of first place by the Dodgers series.

Hmm, I could be wrong but I don't remember seeing anyone saying he shouldn't be the closer again at all, just that maybe he should be eased back into it and not necessarily thrown right back into the role. Megill has been pretty good this year.

Tomorrow is interesting game and would say alot. Gain a split would be great but interesting to see if Meyers can hang against this lineup. If he is for real you will know tomorrow.

Who said that?  I saw people saying that he should be eased back into the closer roll, and not be thrust into it his first day off the IL, but don't remember anyone saying that they permanently wanted him in the 8th.

C'mon.

If this team somehow back doors a split here, I will start following the one and two seed races.   We just got to get through this month.   This is a tough schedule in august

Montas can throw 150 pitches tonight and be released in the morning.

Yeah, I don't think a release is happening just yet. Btw, interesting how you ceased posting after this.

On a serious note re. Montas, I don't think he was lights out, but he absolutely gave us what we needed after that disastrous first inning that really wasn't his fault.

After three starts, I think there's enough there to give us some decent innings and help get this rotation over the finish line. He just needs to focus on getting ahead of hitters and working north south with his 4 seamer and splitter. Far from a disastrous trade having given up Junis and Wiemer who both suck.

Murphy with the grandkids at the presser again. It definitely gives an air of game doesn't matter much look family is here. Also Pirates losing 10 straight with Skenes is hard to do.

Oh there were definitely some that wanted Megill to stay the closer.

Those are his kids.  We solved that riddle a few weeks back.

I was in that camp. I couldn’t see him coming right off the IL after that type on injury and coming into 9th inning save situations on consecutive days or anything like that.

The way it worked out the Brewers  didn’t have a 9th inning save situation for the first two weeks he was on the roster because they were either losing or had leads bigger than 3 runs. So, he was able to ease in with 3 spread out, lower leverage situations until the 1-0 game last Saturday.. And  though he struck out the side in that one, he wasn’t that sharp going to 3 balls on each hitter and having two of them chase fastballs out of the strike zone..

Hilarious considering you're one of the people that said Megill should stay the closer.

Really? Wow. Kinda makes it worse imo. Who is going to give a guy a hard time with his kids there? It is really really bad form. I don't get why they are they.

Montas, who — to be clear, despite all the over-reactionary posts at the beginning of this thread — turned in 5ip with 0 ER and 6 K against an elite lineup and has a 3.86 ERA with even better peripherals since joining the Brewers…

Truly a shocker that a veteran starter with a 7-year track record of being an above-average ML SP when healthy could help win a game in a playoff push.

Was at the game tonight. Wow, was that exciting seeing Devin face the heart of the Dodgers lineup in the 9th and shut them down. Yes, we've had our postseason struggles, and maybe we have them again this year, but tonight was a great night to be Brewers fan.

I’m exhausted after being at that game. So full of highs and lows. I was in the 300s and I kept getting up to walk off my nerves when I’m usually pretty calm.

Megill’s injury made the “ease him in” option unavailable for using Williams. It worked out, but I still think that would have been the more prudent route.
