Why give up an out in a tie game in the 10th inning?

I hate the sac bunt. It was a terrible decision.

I'd trust Hoby more with inherited runners than Elvis. Or DL if he was available. Oh well, tough loss. Get ;em back tomorrow.

Depends on how well Hoby recovered from his "injury." He was getting hit before his IL.

How about a hitter doing his job and getting the guy home for god sakes

Hudson Hall for two. Even Hoby. We know Peguero can't pitch with men on base.

Peguero has a higher K%, lower BB%, higher GB%, lower HR/9, and higher soft contact% with men on base than with bases empty this year.

It's going to be hard seeing Rhys Hoskins for 162 more games next year.

Agreed. I don't care much for hitters that just can't hit and he's never even hit .250 in a full season. He doesn't draw walks anymore either which at least made his OBP tolerable in the past. And he can't run. And he can't field. The whole package.

Easier to do when you get 3 outs in an inning instead of 2.

That's all well and good, but the man cannot strand inherited runners. I don't know what his stats are on that now, but it feels like every time he's in he allows the runner(s) to score.

Tough one tonight.

The way I look at it is that we're a significant underdog for the bye no matter how you slice it. Philly is better roster wise and has an easier schedule, plus the inside track on the tiebreaker should that come into play. Our hopes for that really come down to sweeping the Phils. Two of three that series just probably isn't going to be enough, especially when that series comes right after a west coast trip. We actually go @Giants, @DBacks, home Phils, home DBacks, which is just a murderous stretch. During that same run, Philly has home Rays, home Mets, @Brewers, @Mets. That's tough, but not quite as bad, I don't think. They also close with the Nats, while we'll get the likely to be scrapping for their lives Mets.

Point is: I want to wrap the division and then be as fresh as we can. Would love to see the Mets and Braves having to gut everything to win that last WC. I'm not giving up on the bye, but we're probably 2.5 to 1 underdogs for that no matter how you slice it. Foot on the gas for now. Champagne is coming.

That's all well and good, but he loses games for us.

Seems like a good guy, but, yeah, he's been a disappointment for sure.

They did have three outs.    They literally didn’t need a hit to score that inning

I knew someone would find some stats to try to say he's actually Mariano Rivera with guys on base.

If I wanted a pitcher to strand runners, I'd want them to strike more guys out, walk fewer, and get more weak contact. If they accomplished that and it didn't work, I probably wouldn't blame the pitcher.

They had 2 outs because they willingly chose to give one of the 3 outs away, which is known to usually be a bad idea.

The bye being out there is kind of a double edged sword right now. I don't think we're going to get it, but we're close enough where we kind of have to keep trying. Which is a little problematic because we're worn down and tired and it would be better to focus on just getting healthy and rested this month.

I hate the new 6 team playoff. I can't shake the worry that our season will end quickly in October just like the last one.

He should not have been is my point. Peguero is not better than him.

Hudson wouldn't have been available to pitch either way tonight. Win the game before you need to use your 6th RP of the 7 available RP.

His velo is down. They are getting him rest and a tune up for the final stretch and playoffs.
