Love it!  Have black be his backup let bauers go, and get him ready to take over when Rhys leaves!

I actually don't mind this one bit - even if he repeats last year's "production" it's not a payroll killer, and at minimum he provides RH pop at 1B/DH.  Another season removed from that knee injury, hopefully he's got one more free agent year level of production in him.

I'm low key happy he is back. I don't think it will be as drastic a return but I'm expecting a Jesse Winker like rebound in his 2nd full season back from injury. Black seems a good candidate to platoon with him ... but I wouldn't mind a few more left handed scrap options (Bauers-esque) to compete in ST to win the platoon job.

God I hate Jesse Winkers.

Glad he is back….had big hits for us in 2024…good dugout presence…..career OPS .827

Same lifetime OPS as Joe Mauer and better than Utley, Grace, Roberto Alomar, Machado…could do far worse. Hoping for a career avg year!

He'll only be 32. Playing for another contract. If one had to put $100 on having to pick "career average year," or "repeat of 2024," where would you put your money?*

*granted the Brewers would be staking $14M on the gamble (or $18M depending on how you look at the $4M buyout).

The latter.  Easily.

He was awful last year.  Very similar to Bauers at 14 times the price.

Meh, we all knew this was coming.

I'm not upset about it, just hope he rebounds and has a great year, playing for his possible last contract...

You were insistent on signing him last off-season

I am not asking for it ... but man how much would Cubs fans lose their minds if we signed Rizzo to be the platoon mate of Hoskins?

but would they really?  I mean, the guy is a shell of himself.  I would really be against it to be honest, even if it did bother Cubs fans.  lol

Ok, I'll play along.

Do you have evidence of my "insistentness?"

This was a no brainer for Hoskins. No way he gets that kind of coin in free agency.

I hope he comes back better after as last year he was coming off major surgery. Maybe the year of playing will help him rebound. I'd like to see him in a little better shape. Age hits all players - but bigger bodied guys like Hoskins can really go downhill fast if they aren't careful. They lose a little speed and quickness - and it can really affect them.

You both said signing Hoskins was the 1% dream scenario then after signing him said you wished he did not have a player option for the 2025 season.image.png.988e1739f1229ca546ccdf4c0798da57.png

Ok……would you have preferred if he said you were “ overjoyed “ with the signing instead of saying you were “insistent”?

It’s ok…… we are all guilty of loving certain moves that don’t turn out great……maybe he will reward your original enthusiasm this season…….
