It is a good deal for Haase as well since he is guaranteed that money even if they no longer want him. If he goes to arbitration and even wins he isn't guaranteed that full amount.

I thought they changed that rule in the last CBA?

https://www.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/non-guaranteed-contract

According to MLB

Per the 2022-26 collective bargaining agreement, arbitration-eligible players who settle with their teams on a salary for the subsequent season without going to a hearing will be eligible to receive full season termination pay, even if they are released prior to the start of the season (this rule will go into effect after the 2022 season). Previously, the salary for such players only became guaranteed if the player was on the Major League roster or injured list when the regular season began. Arbitration players who were cut before then would be owed either 30 or 45 days' worth of termination pay, depending on the point in Spring Training the player was released.

So the change was that nobody used to have fully guaranteed pay to now the people who settle have the fully guaranteed pay?

No surprises, I figurerd Milner would be nontendered. The only other person that I thought was 50/50 was Payamps, but at 2,8 million that’s still a decently cheap bullpen option.

Jordan Romano got non tendered. Until last year he has been a top 5 or so closer. I am surprised a bigger payroll team wouldn't have given something for him. He still throws 96 with elite extension. He is not really on our radar with our pen depth but surprising. Kyle Finnegan as well but he doesn't quiet have the past upside results even though he throws harder.

Griffin Canning could be a sneaky good cheap addition. He has a really good changup and maybe if he goes to the pen his stuff and control will play up and get some Bryse Wilson style improvements.

Yeah, it was time for him to go.  Hoby was starting to tail off last year.  He was a great fine, but it is time to move on.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."
