I cannot wait for this season to blow up in Dan Campbell's face when he does this stuff with Philly or Buffalo.

Somebody with a defense that can win the line of scrimmage

The gambling almost doomed them tonight, and it probably will again with Campbell’s unnecessary risks. I still think its foolish.

To everyone who thought it was stupid, which were you more optimistic about? Stopping them on the play, or Jordan coming back and getting into FG range with 40 seconds to work with?

There’s your answer. I felt hope when I thought they would kick. I lost all hope when they brought the offense back out.

good game. defense actually played pretty good all things considered. look forward to playing them w Jaire, Cooper

End result, this team wasn’t outclassed, and shouldn’t be if they meet a third time. Now they can focus on getting the details cleaned up and healthy in the secondary. Playing inside throughout the playoffs wouldn’t be the worst result. The locker room should feel confident and a little pissed—that’s a helpful attitude. Get to January and let’s see.

Still don’t think this pass rush can win a title. Clay Matthews ain’t walking through that door.

That 4th down call was the right call by the Lions.

The teams are very evenly matched.  Both games were very close.  Yes, the Lions are better, but most of that is in the experience and prep.

One thing I struggle to understand is that we seem to be very bad at predicting what teams are going to throw at us...and very predictable for what we are going to do.  We fall behind quickly and then eventually adjust, but we look terrible early on nearly every game (except Miami, but they just froze).

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

The stop. The stop is one play. Getting a field goal with no timeouts and like 35 seconds is still pretty hard to do.

Yep. It’s one of the key components to championship level play, and they just don’t do it well enough.

Aside from Gary’s occasional flashes, no one in the box does nearly enough to make the opposing QB uncomfortable. Van Ness continues to be a huge disappointment.

You need like 30 yards in today's NFL. You start at the 30 and you’re pretty much within FG range when you get under 60. It’s 2 plays and every defense out there is playing soft and guarding the sidelines.

If the Lions started their final drive down 32-31, from their own 30, with 35 seconds left and no timeouts, I don’t think many of us would have been reasonably confident in making a stop.

So that's a wordy way of saying our game planning sucks?

I wasn't particularly confident in making the stop. But if you are asking me if I am more confident in a field goal to tie with, let's say 36 seconds, no timeouts, and needing 40 yards and a spike...I would take my chances on a lucky read and stuffing the 4th down play. ,

Or the qb falling over at the snap and not being able to make the handoff

Yep. Here we are sitting here roasting him for going against the grain when it worked and he’s 12-1 and they’ve beaten some good teams. He’s going to be in a position where he’ll need 2 playoff wins to go to the Super Bowl and that’s all you can ask for. They didn’t lose to San Francisco last year because they got too aggressive and if he doesn’t get to the Super Bowl this year it will probably be because sometimes you lose to other really good teams in the playoffs.

Campbell is widely regarded as one of the best coaches in the league. Maybe, just maybe he makes decisions based on what he thinks will give his team the best chance to win, and not just to try to be the cool stepdad.

Conventional wisdom does not always mean correct. There was a time in the NFL when 4th and 1 from your opponent’s 45 was pretty much an auto-punt.

Someone on the Packers coaching staff has to be fired. How can they seriously never switch their defensive scheme and cover the middle of the field. I hold MLF responsible as the head coach when something so obvious that achange is required and nothing is done is just inexplicable. As Vince would say “What the hell is going on around here”.

Ok but kicking the FG was very, very likely to work as well and if it didn't, the game would go to overtime at worst.

Going for that 4th not only jeopardized the attempt but also opened a small window for the Packers to actually win in regulation which was pretty much a 0%.

They won the game - that doesn't mean it was the right call. Just like the stupid one from his own 30 wasn't right either. The other ones at least made logical sense. But he overdoes it and defies logic just to show off his nuts. And it is going to bite him.

They're winning because they're good.
