Arizona's first game is a week from tomorrow. Excited to see who the remaining DSL promotions will be as well as hopefully debut's of last year's draftees Deberry, Renz, and Dubanewicz (who are not listed above).

By my count we have not seen the 2025 debuts of these players: O'Rae, Russell Smith, Edwin Jimenez, or Tanner Shears.  I assume the last two are still recovery from last year's injuries but have not heard anything on the first two.  Has there been any sightings of these in Arizona?

Yah, I think only Mercado, Mercedes and Aparicio have been confirmed or all but confirmed on the pitching side as coming over from the DSL. I’m kind of expecting about 10 more.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know when the DSL is starting? Are they keeping it later or moving it up to better coincide with the ACL?

DSL schedule hasn’t been finalized yet, but it is expected to begin the first week of June again.

With the releases of Barrios and Gomez, it is clear that most of this roster is going to be from last season's DSL squads. On the offensive side, all that is left from last season is Pedro Ibarguen, Luis Lameda and Gery Holguin (Maybe Eric Martinez if he shifts back in time for the opener). Between them and Jayden Fielder, that probably leaves 11-12 spots for hitters from last year's DSL squads. We already know Luis Corobo, Handelfry Encarnacion, Jorge Quintana, Juan Ortuno, Jose Anderson, and Kevin Garcia. That leaves 4-5 spots for guys like Frandy Lafond,  Moises Polanco, Kevin Ereu, Roderick Flores, Freider Rojas, Frederi Montero, Pedro Tovar, Yoneiker Lugo, Engel Paulino and Jonathan Rangel.

You can add RHP Wenderlyn King to the preliminary ACL roster.  He will be one of the most interesting arms to watch in Arizona this season and could very well end the campaign with the Mudcats.

MILB has now included the Dominican Summer League games on the upcoming schedule, commencing Monday, June 2nd, with the regular season ending Tuesday, August 19.

It appears there are 51 DSL squads competing this year, up from 50 teams last year. As we've noted before, the Brewers' DSL affiliates are now named DSL Brewers Gold and DSL Brewers Blue.

I’ve been waiting for Baseball Reference to acknowledge the start of the Complex League season to get average ages, but for now 41 pitchers in their age 18 or younger season have logged innings in one of the Complex Leagues. Five are Brewers, including 4/17 to log at least 4 innings. 84 hitters in their age 18 or younger season have tallied 10 plate appearances. Nine are Brewers.

Looks like 2025 ACL stats have shown up on BRef now.

Brewers hitters have the (wait for it) youngest average age at 18.4 versus a 19.6 league average.

Pitchers are more middle of the pack at 20.9 versus a 21.0 average, but that’s probably skewed somewhat by Hall/Shears/Ashby rehabbing.

Outside of Hall the top nine Zona Crew pitchers in IP so far are all either 18 or 19.

It is amazing that the youngest lineup is also the best so far. Even before tonight’s double-digit output, the offense led the ACL in batting average, OBP, slugging and, by more than .100, OPS.

Extra impressive with two high bonus guys on the team (Quintana/Ereu) hitting the worst among the regulars.

I'm also absurdly impressed with the best of the youngest hurlers as well. Mercedes, Dorchies, and Quezada (for example) tonight are just dealing.

Does Ereu even have a poke yet? I don't think he does (I guess I could go look...but it's late and I'm lazy)😅.

Baseball America has it's International Class Reviews for 2025 up today. They have Antunez, Fenelon, and Acosta in our "Top of the Class" signings with a bunch more under "Names to Know"

Thought it would be cool to look up last years to see if anyone saw Made and Pena coming. Here are their excerpts as the first two "Names to Know" after Quintana being the only one listed in "Top of the Class" :

Jesus Made, SS, Dominican Republic: Made, 17, was one of big three international signings this year for the Brewers, landing a $950,000 bonus. He has grown to 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, a physical, athletic shortstop with a chance to hit for power from both sides of the plate, especially from the right side. Made fires the barrel through the zone with good bat speed and a knack for driving the ball with backspin, flashing above-average raw power. Some scouts thought his contact skills were solid for his age, though it could end a power-over-hit profile. Made is an above-average athlete with plus speed and an arm that’s at least a 60 and potentially a 70 on the 20-80 scouting scale. He will need more polish defensively and could end up outgrowing the position, with third base or center field potential landing spots.

Luis Peña, SS, Dominican Republic: Peña is the other of Milwaukee’s three big international signings this year along with Quintana and Made, joining the Brewers for an $800,000 bonus. At 5-foot-11, 185 pounds, he has a strong, compact build for 17 that’s packed with explosiveness. He’s a righthanded hitter whose swing can get long, but he has shown solid bat-to-ball skills for his age because he picks up spin well with a flatter path to the ball.

He has the combination of strength and bat speed to drive the ball for hard contact, though his approach is geared more toward line drives than loft right now, with the potential for plus raw power. Peña doesn’t have the long, gliding strides of a lot of speedsters, but he’s a power runner with 70 speed on the 20-80 scale. He has to clean some things up with his actions to stay at shortstop, but his athleticism gives him a chance to stay there, with a plus arm that would also fit at third base.
