It's the economics of baseball's fault that we're making bad decisions and trades.

Yes and no. Hader trade (and subsequent acquisition of Contreras) was very good.  But since we have been slumping.  And usually better at manipulating roster spots but losing Shane Smith, and having Thomas (and previously Jay) waste these spots is poor management.  Plus Hall and Cortes had red flags and management clearly looking like they whiffed in those assessments.

Giving up homeruns is frustrating, and it's been a frustrating start to the season.

But if the Brewers were playing defense like the Yankees today, I would be livid.

It's hard to commit errors when the other team is only hitting home runs and walking.

I was honestly complimenting you - I completely agree with what you wrote regarding poor defense

Oh I know, I didn't take it like you were being sarcastic. I was just reminded of this scene from Groundhogs Day and felt kind of apt today.

As long as Conner Thomas’s left arm is attached to his shoulder, I hope he remains in the game & eats innings - no matter how many pitches he throws or runs he allows

2025 MLB Team Salary Payroll Tracker

Is this a fair league?

Yes and no. The top 4 outpace the league. But the bottom 5 are abysmal.

A team with playoff intentions and a reasonable core of talent should not be there below Minnesota, KC, Cincinnati, St Louis and Colorado.  Minnesota and KC are in same boat trying to be competitive in a small market, and St Louis and Colorado are rebuilding in medium sized markets, and Cincinnati is in between. If Milwaukee ownership and management were serious they could be in that $125-140 range - along with the scouting, development abilities that would be a competitive team. But not spending for another legitimate arm and/or bat and staying that low in payroll is unfair to us fans.  So the league is not fair, but that doesn’t mean ownership is not part of that problem.

And the last year or so of personnel decisions have been less than stellar (after the December’23/Janury’24 coup of Contreras trade, Chourio deal and IFA class).

What a stupid decision to remove him this early & wear out the bullpen

Thank you, finally, for that concession!

Ok. I didn’t truly endorse it was a fair league, but really more that the ownership could (and I believe should) do more to keep or sign players to remain closer to the middle than to the Pirates in payroll.

But agree it is not a fair league

Either way the evil empire is forcing its will on the upstart small market team today, and it is highlighting one of the big ills in baseball.

The reason I am such a big Brewers fan more than anything is that we somehow field a team that can hold its own pretty well despite the huge payroll disadvantage we have forced upon us by MLB.

Beating out the Cubs/Cards in the regular season is sweet.  Beating the Reds/Pirates ... well, not so sweet, but wins are nice against anybody.

Beating the Dodgers/Yankees/Mets in a playoffs series ... virtually impossible ... one day God will intervene and we will win it all ... does God care about baseball, though?  That question concerns me.

I hope I'm wrong but Turang and Ortiz are not bringing enough bat for me in the middle infield. Adames is going to be missed big time.

160 games remaining - plenty of time to turn things around … but Willy was a good bat for sure

Bad throw from Rhys. Behind the bag. A good throw gets us out of the inning.

Don't give him something to hit Elivs. Walk him if you need
