Last year, there was inconsistent miss on his sliders

It looks like he killed some vertical drop on it this year and was able to pound the zone with it yesterday. I would bet it was a downgrade from last year's version on Stuff model. But due to his premium velocity, it was an acceptable tradeoff if he has more control on it. 3 BBs seemed bad, but 65.8 Strike% is an above average number from a starter, which is nice to see and hopefully it sticks.

He still had 3 bb in 5 innings, which for me is manageable if he isn't hitting batters or having multiple walks in an inning. If he can have 1 more decent start I would really think hard about ditching on of the soft tossing lefties and at least piggyback him off of Quintana or Cortes as a multi inning reliever (or like a once through the lineup starter).

Also, I'll add that this is the third highest strike% he's ever had for any outing that exceeds 50 pitches since he entered the system, like I said hopefully it sticks.

He had a great outing last July I believe, so I will need to see this start to start.

He is still giving me this generation's Nick Neugebauer vibes with his inconsistent outings.

Neuge had a couple minor league seasons where his bb per 9 was like 10 or higher, I think Misi is around 1/2 that. But anywhere you can sneak in a Nuege reference is a good post.

It’s also AAA where there isn’t an Ohtani, Arenado, Kyle Tucker etc.

If he’s walking 5+ per 9 in AAA; it’s not magically going to drop in the majors where hitters are typically much more selective.

Ethan Small walked 4.4/9 in the minors and that number doubled in the major leagues.

Yeah Nuke had a much higher BB rate, but man his K rate was crazy.

But more in the one good start, one bad start and he may need to be a reliever. I remember back then I was like "Oh Neugie can't be a reliever we haven't developed a starter is so long that he and Gold HAVE to be starters".  Sigh.  (But we did get Sheet and Gallardo a few years later, and then Burnes/Woodruff/Peralta for 3-4 magical seasons)  Still hopeful on Miz, but I do worry that his control is not there yet, and he still has a way to go to be someone I can trust for 5-7 IP every 5 days.

Strike zone is also smaller in Triple A if you look at called strikes distribution for these two levels. Especially unfriendly for those who pound fastballs at upper third of the zone.

I hope he gets the start for the Brewers Friday. They are not going to lose a year of control with him so right back down after the game but would rather see Miz than a guy like Alexander get a start.

As much as I would love to see Misi, CarRod and Henderson are on the 40 man. I doubt our front office let's a player lose for a Misi spot start when there are other good options.

Looks promising but I need to see him maintain those numbers at least through april before I get my hopes up

I would like him used very cautiously and then...sure, if he can maintain those numbers, that'd be great. I'd say 2-3 months in AAA as I trust the MLB team to figure it out and he's probably going to max out at 140 innings this year, but this is encouraging.
