We just need to stay within arms length of the Cubs. I realize we are outclassed by Chicago today but the Cubs will regress. Their bullpen is still bad and I am skeptical their offense maintains this pace.

Terrific lineup for them, but as the season wears on I could see them having to win a lot of 9-6 & 10-8 type games. And I had that thought before the pulled hammy today by Imanaga, which may or may not be serious. It just remains to be seen if there's anyone else in the division that could get their foot in the door.

Way worse that last year but he didn't get rockin till the temps hit the 80's last year.

I was only half-listening, but I thought I heard Rottino say that Chourios' OPS---I assume he meant for his career---is almost 1.000 when he sees 6 or more pitches in an AB. It's about not chasing but it's also about dialing down enough to foul off close pitches that you're now missing w/two strikes. He'll eventually barrel up balls & sometimes even hit them out of the park w/a so-called "two strike approach". It happened last year at times.

Swinging at everything is never a good thing at this level. Just makes you easier to pitch too. He's still a baby; It'll come.

Good win, Freddy has been amazing. Hopefully we can get some consistency going. If Frelick isn't hurt I think Murph needs to fully reorder the batting order. Drop Yeli to like 7/8, since no one is hitting for power put Sal and Turang in better run producing spots. Maybe Chourio leading off leads him to be more patient.

Chourio, Sal, Rhys/William, Turang, William/Rhys, Collins/Bauers, Durbin, Yeli, Ortiz

Cubs face Giants and Mets the next two series. We get Astros then Rays.

At least I won't have to stream the Rays series.

Did Murph give an update on Sal in the post game presser?

Not chasing is the only thing now he should be working on.  Because...  He thinks he can hit everything and pitchers will never through him a strike if he swings at balls.  Especially on the first pitch.

To those that already want PCA over Chourio... Chourio is two full years younger than PCA, and had a 20/20 season in his 20-aged season. When PCA was 20 he was in A-ball.

If you still prefer PCA, that's great, but I think Chourio has a preternatural ability to hit a baseball that comes around very rarely. I think Chourio will be better than Braun, which is a high bar; that's basically a HOF-bar.

But again, to each their own.

My God, what is our plan if Frelick is down for an extended period of time.  Perkins out until the end of May 26th, probably into June for Mitchel if we are lucky...

That leaves us with Yelich playing almost full time in LF again, Chourio in CF, and Collins in RF?

Cameron as our 4th OF?

Geez.

The plan would be to suck even more than before.

I wonder what plan B is if Ortiz doesn't come around at the plate.
