Hey if this is the way they are going to roll it makes salvaging nights easier. If the Brewers give up 3 in the first it is likely a 9-2 loss so I can just head out and catch a show somewhere :)

They either win games 3-1 with great pitching, or get blown out. they don't have the offense to beat teams 6-5. The void left by Adames is large, mostly in his leadership qualities. He seemed to be the bridge between the spanish speaking players and the non-spanish speaking players that I don't think we have this year. We all knew the team was going to have a big void at 3rd base that was never addressed in the offseason. Ortiz has given us next to zero production from SS, and the fill-in's in the outfield have been subpar. The team can probably be pretty good with all of their pitchers healthy and a legitimate bat at 3rd base. The question is, will that occur, and if so, when?

Ortiz hasn’t gotten it going with the bat, so it’s hard to argue against your premise but Willy Adames and his .656 OPS and negative dWAR certainly would not be a savior. Not to mention expectations that come with being paid 25+ million dollars a year.

Somehow they've managed .500 after the brutal 4 game start. They've done that with their whole starting pitching staff hurt besides one guy, with the leftside giving nothing, Yeli/contreras generally down, and Chourio just being ok rather than the force he was at the end last year, and the bullpen being much shakier than its been the last few years.

Its kind of shocking they're not in a worse position considering all that.   They have to be active trying to improve the left side, but as those other things start to course correct they should be in an ok spot going forward.  Hopefully the Cubs have a cold snap and they can take advantage, because 2nd place might not be enough with how good the NL is.

Yep watching the games, looking at our offense stats on screen and all the injuries like wow how are around .500? All our big names have been average or below average. I think they can turn it around and get hot.

The other way to look at it is if we continue to play so poorly, we are going to slide right out of contention.  No way we can play like this all year and stick around that .500 mark.  I find it unbelievable we are where we are now.

If we plan to wait to do something about 3B and SS until the deadline, it's going to be too late, simple as that.

Think of how much fun it will be when they trade Hoskins, Quintana, Woodruff, Civale, Cortes, and Painter Todd. Get to see the youngins’ come up and show what they can do.

That's not true at all.  When they win, they often win big.  They are currently a .500 team with a positive run differential.

With all their pitchers-----and OFs-----healthy, they could be pretty good WITHOUT a legitimate bat at 3B. But that would also require Contreras, Yelich & Chourio to be some semblance of what they were in '24. Contreras needs to get healthy. Chourio doesn't worry me long-term. Yelich is the enigma right now. Lately it just looks like it's impossible for him to turn on something middle-in & hit it hard.
