Kind of? Ortiz is a pre arbitration eligible player who out up a 2.7 WAR for them as a rookie. I’m sure as long as his confidence isn’t shaken they’re not gonna do anything to damage his psyvhe. He’s a guy they plan on having for a number of years,

Maybe the best thing for his psyche is to take a two week break from the pressure up here. Go down and try to get back to what made him good the first half of last year.   Who knows, but putting up a 0fer every day letting your team down in front of 30K people and hundreds of thousands at home could be worse than the embarrassment of being sent down.

they have to do something at the two positions soon. For Ortiz, I'd guess he's safe in mke more because chances are they'll be lucky to find one replacement, let alone two.  Not out of any psyche thing that having 2-3 good month means you can never be sent down again

All for sending Ortiz, Durbin, Monasterio down if a trade or waiver claim brings in someone likely to be better.  Any viable 2025 alternatives at SS and 3B are not currently in the organization, unfortunately.

If the Brewers stand pat with this production through May 30, I will suspect that they think of themselves as sellers, and as such, they may intend to try out Martinez Jr., Wilken, and/or Boeve? Heck, maybe even Pratt, for those roster spots?

Maybe sign him to a multi-year contract.? Sort of like sign low, Brewers could make a good deal.(blue)

Churio's 10th K in his last 15 ABs. He's 3 for his last 30. Yelich rolls over on yet another pitch. You can't blame Murphy for this pathetic offense. He's got the worst 3B in baseball, the worst SS in baseball, and his infield replacement hitting zero. Yelich below the Mendoza line as his DH, Churio in a horrific slump with no end in shight, and nothing in the minors that would help anytime soon.

I'll take the three runs but man this lineup is going to have to single teams to death. The no power and lack of hard contact is a big problem.

And yet, there are people who think we are going to suddenly magically turn things around.

I just don't see that happening this season, too many things to fix on both sides of the ball, and that is without even mentioning our pitching...

I want to be wrong, and hope I am, but this is going to be one of those seasons, so I hope we get to see some of the young guys step up and see what they can do.

Those people who recognized Chourio’s need for a demotion after the opening series in New York deserve an apology 🙂

I will say this until I'm blue in the face. If you have a starter, let him start. Give him his routine. Let him jump over the painted chalk lines on his way out to the bullpen to warm up and take 4 steps on the warning track when he walks in and do 6 hand claps with the catcher or whatever it is he fancies to do ...

Stop breaking the routine up for a kid that needs a routine. This is not excusing Priester ... but stop being cute. Great that Z got outs, but stop making it different for the other guy.

Priester has gigantic platoon splits and the O's have a bunch of really good LHH at the top of their order.

You can live with a lack of power but not with a lack of hard contact.

It's amazing how far the Orioles have fallen in just two years time.

We sure as hell don't want to emulate them...

Chourio right now what's an awful lot like he did early last year.

Massively overswinging with his head jerking around and falling backwards.

I get it. Then make him a reliever. If you want him to throw 5-6 innings for you he has to face them 2-3 times anyway. If we are afraid of him facing certain hitters, then add him to the long relief pile. If you want him to start for you, let him start for you.

The whole point of the opener is so that he doesn't have to face the top of the order a 3rd time while being able to pitch 5-6 innings. Instead of having to face Holliday and Henderson at the top of the order the 3rd time through they are at the bottom. It's called protecting a bad SP. Same thing we did with Wilson and Rea last year

He looks worse than he did a year ago.

I promise I understand what is happening. Everything I said still remains. There is a big difference to me in protecting a 33yr old journeyman that you are hoping to eat innings for you during a season and 'protecting' a 24yr old kid that we need to be a part of our rotation for the next half decade. Priester needs to get bruised up and needs to learn from it. This is the year to learn while we are down. If he can't get guys out he can't be here. We need to find out if he can.
