Brewers at Marlins; Friday, July 4 @ 6:10 p.m.: Quinn Priester (3.35 ERA, 3.97 FIP) vs. Sandy Alcantara (6.98 ERA, 4.69 FIP)

Apologies. No more funny Priester posts from me. That was a horrible performance from him, reminiscent of his early outings when he didn't look long for the rotation. He needs to flush that ugliness right quick.

The cynical side of me thinks Miami is going to face the Cubs down the road, be trailing in the 9th by one run, have the same hitters coming up, and they'll go down in order on something like seven pitches. Those were some incredibly good ABs vs Megill & he deserves all the credit in the world for getting through it. Uribe was much better tonight, and Ashby was particularly nasty.

How can you not love Caleb Durbin?

McGill has to be the most inefficient closer in baseball.

I credit their hitters. For sure he's had some games where he's labored, but today the single, the walk, everything they had that inning I thought was very well-earned. Fortunately he hadn't worked in awhile & never seemed to be running out of gas. Of course we probably won't see him the rest of the weekend.

How has Megill been on the Brewers for over 2 years and some people still think his name is Mcgill with the letter c in it??

Maybe they think he is Irish.

Her name is Megill, and she called herself Lil, but everyone knew her as Nancy.

Huh?

You were a great right fielder and I really liked your opening day in Milwaukee against the Red Sox in 1978!

Agreed. Megill was painting so close to the corners but wasn’t getting the calls. Not that the calls were wrong but given the calls but given the calls up to that point he has reason to believe he could get a few there.

Sanchez had such a good AB that I legitimately thought he would homer if Megill didn’t end up walking him.

Megill wasn’t efficient but given what Miami was doing that inning I thought he was really, really fortunate to hold them to nothing.

That was actually 1980.

Ironically, after great years in 78 and 79, after that great Opening Day! Lezcano had a poor season in 1980 and never again produced the way he did those two years..

But, he was a valuable piece in the trade that landed Simmons, Vuckovich, and Fingers
