The guy you are talking about has a broken finger. In no other organization would he even be playing imo. The fact we are arguing over him sitting for a few games is nuts.

Just going to have to agree to disagree, then. I think the Brewers tend to err on the conservative side when it comes to injuries and I certainly don’t consider them among the most reckless.

I don’t obviously know the medical specifics of his injury but my assumption is that if they felt he would significantly benefit from a few games off, they would have given it to him.

Really good win in the sense that it would have been a really bad loss.

Blue currently shaking his fist at the sports book at the fact that he never got the chance to ring up a Perkins on a 3-2 pitch at the ankles.

His bookies probably happy though.

The brewers have done a good job of minimizing losing streaks.    But we need to play better this week

cant be appreciated enough what Vaughn pickup has meant

Huge if true. Given that statement why In your opinion is he having the worst season of his carrer? Just happenstance? The guy is clearly hurt and has been all season. I give him credit for being a dog but he has hurt the team in this case by being limited. The options are not great but should he be playing 7 days a week at this point. I'd say no. It's not on Contreras to pull himself out. This is on the organization and the manager.

Let's not forget who started the rally today. Haase with a baseball hit. The guy can't do any worse throwing him in there a bit more.

Didn't Murphy say on record that Contreras wouldn't let Murphy bench him, or something similar to that?

Do we even know if the finger is still bothering him?

Even if we had lost this game, take solace in that the A's went into Houston and completed a four game sweep of the Astros.

Curious, why?

Haase might actually hit a home run too.   I’ve given up on Contreras getting one the rest of the year

He is our best game caller by far but terrible at the plate right now. Trust me Murphy would sit his ass if that wasn't the case for his game calling.

If Contreras must play, and it seems like he must, can't he be moved to like 5th or 6th at least? I know Murphy kind of likes a "second leadoff hitter" toward that sport but couldn't Contreras then act as a 2nd #2 hitter?

I don't know who I would rather give 2, 3, or 4 at bats to but I would think Frelick, Chourio, Yelich, Vaugh, Collins? Maybe that 1-5 when Vaughn is going to play? Collins could slide into #2 spot if Vaughn is going to be on the bench. I think Frelick and Chourio need the most at bats, with Yelich 3rd. Until Contreras starts at least putting together more competitive at bats (I understand his power is going to be limited with his hand) he doesn't need to see the 3rd or 4th most at bats on the team, IMO.

I’ve been checking each day to see if anyone other than Treego has participated in this “annoying” daily poll. It certainly doesn’t appear to get much attention & simply takes up space. Am I the only one who is bothered by this particular question? I do like the idea of a “fun” daily poll … but this is not that IMO. 😏

You cannot tell if anyone is participating unless you actually vote. And then you can only see that day's vote in progress.

I do agree with moving him down the order though.

Glad the season series is over. This Marlins team is a major pain in the arse, and some of the ball-strike calls didn't make it any easier. Kudos to Ashby for overcoming the Miami bats & two umpires to throw a scoreless 7th.

Felt bad for Durbin. struck out (iirc) twice to begin his day, then in the 1st & 3rd w/one out didn't want (understandably, I guess) to go deep in the count again. Looked to go the other way, and got a first pitch that was perfect for that very thing. Pulled-in INF so they had little range to either side. One-hopper right at the 2B. Until the last couple innings it was that kind of day.

I've never seen anything like Chourio, in that he can be so very dangerous, get his hits & yet still be so incomplete as a player. Still chases waaay too much, but easily our most productive guy right now. It's like viewing a Rembrandt that hasn't had the borders painted in yet. I think the long-term deal we signed him to might be the best money the team has spent since Inking Dalton & Bamberger after the '77 season.

Andrew Vaughn is hitting the ball hard while striking out only six times in just short of 50 PAs. Guys have sometimes simply gotten hot after joining a new team, but boy would it be nice if something was actually unlocked here.

Alumni weekend is over, right? Burn those caps. I'm done feeling like I'm pulling for Juwan Howard & Bo Schembechler.

Specific to Chourio...he is 21 and could quite honestly be learning situational baseball on the fly to try and catch up to his insane talent...but im not excusing that baserunning gaffe, either.

Contreras (before this series) seemed to be coming out of the funk a little. He's been drawing walks pretty much all year, and at least has shown the tendency to hit behind runners. I think these are the main reasons why he's usually still at #2. Someone like Durbin looks like a fit there, but for a kid who has had success hitting 7 & 8 in his first taste of MLB, often the smart money says leave him be.

No denying though, it was an ugly series for him at the plate.

I've been thinking lately that I wish the Brewers had Chourio for longer than what they do have him for. He's 21 and is becoming an offensive force.

He wasn't a huge power hitter in college.  He was incredibly consistent in that he struck out 10% of the time every season at Cal.  Career .495 OBP in college, over .500 each of his last two seasons.

There was something there.  Hopefully the Brewers have gotten him back to the pitch selectivity that he had back in college.

I’m glad he got a big hit. I want this team to win games.

Nonetheless, I hope we aren’t making lineup or roster decisions based on the result of a single AB.

I think you're right. When he tried to take 3B on the ground out I think he was a little overwhelmed by the frustration in not scoring a lot of runs this series & tried to make something happen. The chasing is something I expect to see improvement on eventually.
