You know... I thought of this during the Washington series and I was just reminded watching Collins AB right there (for the wrong reason this time)...

The Brewers have so FEW at bats that are not competitive, Ortiz aside. Yelich oddly enough seems like he has the most after Joey. I have no idea how to quantify or qualify this observation but we just don't seem overwhelmed at the plate by anyone, ever. Even Siegler, who isn't picking up hits .... it feels like he battles himself into a 2-2 count all the time and then makes decent contact.

I dunno, I could be wrong.

I'm actually happy that I see a lot of improved hitting mechanics with far less reliance on extreme launch angles with goofy footwork

I was hoping for a shut-down inning from Freddy... c'mon, man. The ump didn't help with the first walk, but the second walk was completely on him. From 0-2 to a walk.

Why wouldn’t you just take the out at 3rd?  Your not turning that anyways, just get the lead runner.

Yeah I know it’s spur of the moment thinking, but Caleb should have stepped on 3rd.

No harm, no foul. I thought that drive by Murphy was trouble.

When we talked about piggy backing starters, I would have never guessed that Freddy and his high pitch count 5 innings would be the most logical choice.

The uncompetitive pitches have always been the frustrating part.  Plenty of guys give up a bunch of fouls followed by hard contact because they just don't have an out pitch.  Freddy goes from 0-2 to 3-2 and none of the three balls are within six inches of the zone.

It doesn't help that the home plate umpire isn't calling the strikes he is throwing.

I know and I would like to get this game to 5 innings just in case it starts pouring in ATL. Come on Freddy.

Come on, Freddy. I don't know if he even makes it five innings.

He may be at 90 pitches before he even makes it through 4, so I’ll say no.
