How can BA keep talking about Quintana just making a couple,of bad pitches when he walked a couple,of guys to set up a grand slam.

Let Siegler play 3B for an inning before he gets optioned tomorrow to make room for Hoskins.

Bad 0-2 pitch plus walks equaled disaster for Quintana, but it was all academic anyway because the offense did nothing.

Take the silver lining of the Cubs gaining no ground and move on to tomorrow.

If Collins can hit and play the field why didn't he start? I am so tired of seeing something short of our best lineup. Play the best players. Also get Montesario back in the lineup for Ortiz. Enough already.

Phillies now within 4.5.

Bear in mind that although it’d be disappointing if they caught us, it would not be the end of the world. The first round bye would still be in play, which is the most important thing.

Also the whole pen besides Rodriguez (who is irrelevant, let’s be honest) got the day off.

Have you seen what Ortiz does on d at the most important position on the field?

Good D at SS buys you a lot of grace, but it’s not a permanent pass for a spot in the lineup. You can’t be a complete black hole.

No. But I think it's enough to keep Ortiz as the starting 6 through the postseason. He's a true game changer.

Probably, I don’t think you can risk the difference in defense between Ortiz and Mona in a playoff game. Plus I think Joey is probably better offensively than what his 2025 output indicates so his numbers don’t necessarily exactly match what we expect to get going forward.

They are getting the bye if they win division.   Dodgers are like close to ten games back

Right… that’s pretty much what I was saying.

Watching Latz, he reminded me a little of a LH Brandon Woodruff, when Woodruffs' been on point this season. Locating his breaking stuff & changeup pretty much exactly where he wants, keeping you not quite certain of what he's throwing & when, seldom behind in the count. And all that stuff makes 93-94 much more effective than you'd think. He was very good, as was Quintana for the vast majority of the game. The HR by their kid gave me a flashback to the Ortiz GS in New York----didn't try to do too much, just got a mistake & barreled it. Other than that the ball didn't seem to be carrying all that well for either side.

Nice to get an entire day off for the 'pen as I'm guessing Rodriguez will be leaving.

Unless a LHP is throwing in the series finale I think that would be a good day to tie Contreras to the water cooler & force him to take a day off, giving him two w/the team day Thursday. Just feels like a good idea to me.

Agree with all of this, especially the first part.

Mona batting .283 should be platooned more.

You don't see the Mets Phillies Dodgers Padres Cubs best players sitting 2-3 games a week. There is no law that Perkins has to play 3 games a week. Same with Ortiz. D is great but you gotta score too. How about we play everyone for a week straight and wrap things up then the bench can play all you want.
