He's been a pretty big reason the crew is in the position they are.

Solid big league hitter.

Vaughn was fine.   I don’t know why people worry about him.

I’m assuming he can start in a few days though ?

If he's not starting until Saturday, for sure.  Better to get an inning tonight than not in that case.

I'm begging to see the Dodgers in postseason. They are brutal in the pen.

I dont think I'd want to see the Phillies for as long as possible - thinking their pitching depth could be tested best over a 7 game series instead of the 5 game division series format...I take it that Ohtani is still on a tight pitch count?  Dodgers pen was jet fuel as soon as they came in

Not sure if this was mentioned in the thread, but did anyone else see Contreras firing the ball back at Freddy any time he made a couple of bad pitches in a row?

So I just saw a tweet from Tim Oates saying that the trade yelich crowd is pretty silent

is there a trade yelich crowd right now that I’m missing

They were here on this chat board early in the season.

Old Bob Crawley said Yeli would make contributions after the All Star break, and he was severely scorned as someone who knew little or nothing about the game of baseball.

Yeah I saw that too.  I mean three or four years ago I'm sure some fans brought it up, but it wouldn't have been a realistic option with his contract.  The Brewers would have got nothing in return and the only thing he could have been traded for is some salary relief.

I like Lockridge too.

I think, though, Perkins needs to be here. Without him, we are EXTREMELY right-handed, especially off the bench. Plus, the defense. Just gotta keep hoping he figures it out.

Are we though? Yelich, Frelick, Turang, Collins, Bauers.

Did you see the picture of his finger?    I don’t know how he his playing let alone hitting with that?     I can’t believe he didn’t sit out a month this year

I don’t know why they pitched Patrick tonight.    I’m assuming he was going to fill in for Quintana.

"Jerry Augustine said Brewers bullpen concerns him the most, with D.L. Hall and Trevor Megill still questionable."

As someone stated earlier it may be Chad Patrick in the bullpen for the playoffs.

Well, unless the Brewers blow the division somehow, they can't see them until the NLCS.

There is less than a 1% chance they win the division.

We are really just coming here to chat, and, wait for the playoffs.

Fact, Cubs aren't our concern now, but will be 2nd week in Oct.

That's when they dispatch the Padres at Wrigley, then come here with fire in their eyes.

That's what folks should be talking about, they're not done at all. They will be back !!

This post is SO incredibly weird in an IGT.

They will be.   By a long ways

Do,they have any more 25 year olds to bail them out like last year?

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

He is.  And he's not the only one.  Had the same discussion with someone else earlier today on this thread.

I think some people  have trouble making the distinction between being “fearful” of something happening and recognizing the possibility that something might happen, even if that possibility is very small

Probably.   But that’s college sports at this point.     One thing is gard is really good at finding talent where nobody thinks there is any.    It’s like with the brewers.   You just have to trust them with their track record even if you’ve never heard of the guy

football program not so much.

Bruh.

That is his future goal in the bigs -- to be a starter. Let him start a game and give him a pitch count, as a little reward for all the work he's done lately. That's why I'd like to see it.

It might be a future goal, but I'm not sure how realistic it is at this point. Ashby's professional inning totals by year...

2018: 57.2 IP
2019: 126.0 IP
2020: N/A
2021: 95.0 IP
2022: 107.1 IP
2023: 7.0 IP
2024: 112.1 IP
2025: 66.2 IP

He's just never had a chance to get in a groove and build innings on account of injury and to a lesser extent his command issues preventing him from working deep in games.

They probably wouldn't want Ashby to throw more than 120 IP next year, which would maybe set him up for a "full" year of 150 to 160 IP in 2027 and then two seasons of ready to go full bore no kids gloves for his team option years in 2028/29.

There's also the issue that Ashby has been two different pitchers based on his role...

As starter (110.1 IP)
107 K+ | 127 BB+ | 132 HR+
101 AVG+ | 88 LOB+ | 132 GB+
118 ERA- | 113 FIP-

As reliever (116.1 IP)
137 K+ | 100 BB+ | 39 HR+
89 AVG+ | 110 LOB+ | 143 GB+
65 ERA- | 62 FIP-
