The question is will there be a game where Ashby doesn't appear?

There was like a whole week between the regular season and the playoffs where Murphy couldn't pitch him.  So not only does Murphy have an itch to satisfy, but Ashby is super rested now.

Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."

Wow. That lineup is quite notable? I hadn't thought we'd move Sal to center and Jackson to right. Time for us to see if Isaac Collins is ready. I am PUMPED!

Ashby, oof. I don't know. Would've gone with Koenig, though maybe they want him for possible leverage lefties. Let's hope the day off did Aaron good. At this point, these are all tough calls.

I will continue to beat the drum for our lefties needing to join the party offensively. Saw some glimpses of that Saturday. May it bloom.

2.5 hrs from first pitch, and I genuinely feel great. Pressure is off. Season validated. Underdogs. It's time to have ***** FUN in October. Win or lose, I'm going to enjoy this ride.

My main hope tonight is that we get to see Quinn Priester pitch like the Quinn Priester we saw all summer. Even in a losing effort, that dude deserves a bounce back. And I think he's the best bulk option tonight.

Go Brewers!!!

Yeah, I feel so much better about this game than I felt about Saturday. This is enjoyable baseball again. Not that Saturday wasn’t… but the pressure was just immense. Now it’s off.

Granted, this is Game 1, not an elimination game, so that helps.

Yeah I'm with you. I'm more excited than anxious, for the reasons you stated.

I’m guessing this is a hint that Priester is the bulk guy tonight. Can afford to have worse OF defense with him on the mound.

This.

Not a fan of Frelick playing CF because of what it does to your OF defense in two different spots. But if Priester does Priester things, this is the game to try it.

I took Chourios 'almost 100%' comment with a grain of salt, but being willing to do this tells me it may actually have some validity to it.

On the surface, putting Yelich in front of Contreras might get him balls to hit. But when he isn't picking the ball up he'll chase regardless of who the on-deck hitter is. That's one of the keys to this series IMO---his at bats need to be much better.

Good to see Collins get a crack.

From mlb.com

USA Today reported after the Brewers’ Game 5 win over the Cubs that pitching coach Chris Hook’s visit to Uribe in the eighth inning was to warn the right-hander he might be tipping pitches. Whether Uribe was or was not, it’s a matter the Brewers are mindful of as they get set to face the crafty Dodgers, who are known for picking up these things.

So were the Cubs. The Brewers think Chicago had a tip on left-hander Aaron Ashby when he started Game 3 and allowed a three-run home run to Seiya Suzuki.

“They had his pitches,” Brewers manager Pat Murphy said. “Suzuki looked to first and saw the sign. It was a changeup, and he hit a high changeup, which is Ashby’s third pitch.”

They’ll have to be similarly vigilant in the NLCS. Brewers officials believe the Dodgers had multiple scouts watching the NLDS from various locations of American Family Field and Wrigley Field, looking for any small edge that could impact the next series.

“I don't like to think about it, but I understand and I know it's really important,” said Peralta, who will start Game 2 for Milwaukee on Tuesday. “I think that we have the people here that are in charge to check on us and make sure that we are doing it right. But at the end of the day, it's part of the game and you never know -- and they are really good at it. But I think you have to stay focused on the game and try to make it simple and not think too much.”

Frelick is perfectly capable in CF, though. Not elite by any means, not Perkins. But it’s not like you’re throwing Mark Kotsay out there.

Very true. It's just the combo of that, AND having someone else in RF. It's why I'm hoping Chourios' comments re his health are legit.

Friendly reminder before the game gets underway that if someone's posts are bothersome, you can put them on ignore. Go here: https://brewerfanatic.com/ignore/

Use the autofill at the top of the page to find the correct user you want to block. You need to select their name from the drop-down so the system knows precisely who you want to block.

Then make sure you check all the boxes below: posts, messages, replies, etc.

Then hit update preferences or whatever it says and that should activate the ignore.

Enjoy the game!

Lineup is much better with Collins instead of Perkins so I have been worried with Chourios hamstring that they’d have to continue playing Perkins/Lockridge.  Hell yea Frelick!

Don’t really have much confidence in this series. I think it’s pretty lopsided and Dodgers could definitely sweep us.

But baseball is baseball. Dodgers have zero excuse losing tonight. It’s the kind of game that could really flip the script of this series if we can sneak out a win.

We gotta get to their pen with us leading or at least down just a run or two. Our bullpen is probably the one upper hand we have. It won’t do any good if we are down 4+ come mid-late game.

  • Hey, wait a minute, you didn't see Yasiel Puig and Chris Taylor out there, did you?
  • No.
  • Oh, good. For a moment there, I thought we were in real trouble.

Let's go get 'em. Enjoy the ride everybody!

I honestly thought I was going to have to mute the TV in the NLDS.
