Well, at $2M/year, Ohatani could be a Brewer's (non)hitter...

Its only $2M now because the Dodger TV deal can allow them to easily afford paying him $68M a year for a decade after he retires and not bat an eye while they're paying the next generational talent in 2035.

I remember watching almost every single Brewers game during the season, even in seasons that weren’t winning, going to many.

Then they kicked all the games off streaming services and payrolls exploded. I haven’t been to a game in years and watch maybe half those that are on national/accessible TV.

When the Brewers became relevant in 2008 their payroll was $85mil and only one team was double that. Now in 2025 there are two teams darn near tripling their payroll and another five plus that are near or over double their payroll.

It is hard to care anymore, tbh.

Thanks for the fact check... I think we all knew that.

Meh…we beat good/great starters all year.  It’s looking bleak now but we did beat them like 8 straight.  And yes, they have a huge money advantage and such and that is unfair and such but we just have hit awful for several games now outside of a few HRs.  I blame us first.

need an inning with a couple of walks, an error, jam job hit, a steal, double….

Regular season is borderline meaningless to the Dodgers

It’s why baseball is dying when it’s the same 4-5 teams who always make it. Even the Jays have a top 5 payroll now

Its hard to compete in a 7 game series when you have to face these types of pitchers

If it’s the hope that kills you, tonight did a good job of making sure we all live very long lives.

Observations:

1)    We came out aggressive against Yamamoto, which was a good plan. We just couldn’t hit the strikes we got, Chourio excepted. Some of that is hard-hit balls finding outs. Some of it is being unable to know when to ambush a first pitch and when to let it go. Our swing decision have just been really, really bad in the games we’ve lost all playoffs. It hurts double when their bullpen is the one thing you have to get to in order to have a shot.

2)    Our lefties were bad again. Yelich is an all-time Brewer. I feel bad for him. But it isn’t just that he’s struggled. His ABs indicate that he doesn’t have any idea right now. It’s like when Simone Biles had to withdraw from the Olympics because she couldn’t find the ground all of a sudden. Our lefties had two singles tonight. Not good enough against a righty.

3)    Freddy was fine. He needed to be great. But he would’ve had to throw six shutout to give us a real shot.

4)    The RBI double to Pages (1 for 29 in October coming into the series) was Freddy’s worst result. That’s an absolute killer.

5)    It isn’t even Ohtani and Betts and Freeman that are killing us. It’s the Hernandezes. They’ve killed everybody all postseason. When you can pad your lineup with guys who turn robocop in October AND roll out four aces, it’s a massive advantage.

6)    These guys did this same thing to Philly. They’re better than us. It feels like we’ve wrung every win out of this roster. 100 wins. I hope we can add one or two more to that total. Like a lot of you, though, it’s really feeling like the end of the line.

7)    I thought Murph kind of quit managing in this one. Pitching to Ohtani was weird. Kind of an impossible choice, but he called walking him a “no brainer” yesterday, and it seems kind of like a similar situation. Whatever. Not walking Edman in the 8th was malpractice. I know Hernandez has been on fire, but why bring the infield in against Edman while letting him keep the platoon advantage. Dude never Ks. We were losing this anyway, but that was a bad one.

8)    That said, let’s see what these guys do in LA. Everyone needs the day off. Weirder things have happened than a team like us coming back from down 0-2. Win one game, and who the heck knows. One game is, of course, a daunting task. But it’s also all it takes.

9)    If we end up miracle winning this because I posted before the 8th inning was out, you’re welcome.

Never give up.  Never. No one said the playoffs are easy.

But some of us have to be optimistic... most people gave up against the Cubs.  Watching sports and expecting to lose is no way to live.

Pollyanna optimism doesn’t make the team any better either

Being realistic isn’t necessarily negative

I love the Brewers & want them to win

Losing two home games & going on the road for three games in a seven game series leaves me little room for optimism

My biggest question mark about this team has been whether the Woodpecker offense would be able to produce runs against the best pitchers on the playoff teams.

I think we’re getting the answer. After the 16 runs in the first two games against the Cubs they’ve managed just 8  in the last 5 games.

It’s like 2021 all over again.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

The injuries probably helped them keep their top arms fresh

IP this season:

Glasnow: 90 IP

Snell: 80 IP

Ohtani: 47 IP

If these three were fully healthy they probably win 115-120 games

I know it isn’t his fault because the press is going to have to ask questions but the last thing I want to hear is another quote from Yelich about this pitcher is good or it’s baseball.  Blah blah blah

This team needs to hit the ****** ball.   I don’t want to hear it

Yeah I don't quite get that either but whatever. Seemed like a relevant enough baseball related topic. Weird thing to cut off given what else is allowed to unravel organically.

8 innings from both Snell and Yamamoto. I’m not sure the last time we had a pitcher go 8 innings and the Dodgers did it on back to back days.

Had to steal yesterday to stay in this. Didn’t do it. Hate to put it on one guy, but Turang had a shot to be a hero and failed miserably on two straight pitches.

I still have optimism against my better judgement that the travel day is good for us and we show up in LA with a little energy. Maybe get 2/3 and get it back home. Idk. Not expecting it but this team has fought all year.

Because people aren't mature enough to discuss it without insults and it devolved into a pissing match about who has been to games or not...

Small ball doesn’t work in the post season.   Especially against a team like this.

Not sure why anyone would feel that being at either of these games was a flex.

So what. It's a harmless thing to argue about.
