LHP Robert Gasser (3.95 ERA, 1.68 WHIP, 14.5 K/9 in 13.2 IP) and AAA Nashville begin their series at Reds’ affiliate Louisville this morning. SS Cooper Pratt (11-for-last-29 with 8 walks) returns to the lineup after being a late scratch on Sunday.

Low-A Wilson also play early today (as you’ve noted from the running comments above), seeking a win behind RHP Carlos Carra (11.15 ERA, 2.35 WHIP, 10.6 K/9 in 15.1 IP) to even their series in Fayetteville at one game apiece. DH Pedro Ibarguen is 6-for-13 over his last 4 games.

Impressive from the Biloxi Media Notes today:

C Darrien Miller extended his hit streak to 4 consecutive games on Tuesday with a 3-for-4 performance, his 2nd 3-hit performance of the season... Over the last 4 games, Miller is 7-for-12 with 3 home runs... Since the start of the second half in 2025 (June 24), Miller is among the Double-A leaders in on-base percentage (1st, .457), walk rate (2nd, 18.6%) and OPS (6th, .938)... Miller’s .457 on-base percentage over that span is the highest among all catchers in Minor League Baseball.

Did Brock Wilken get injured while batting in the 6th inning? Uh oh. He had doubled earlier.

53 pitches for Robert Gasser (35 strikes), so he's still in that partially-stretched out group. He threw 58 pitches six days ago.

Reiss Knehr continues to be effective and touched 95mph today. It's great that he's healthy.

Indeed it was!

I was just about to laud a Minor League announcer get all the pitch calls correct on the call...and then he called the last K curve a slider. Not easy up in those booths from on high relying on data!

Go to the 01:51:00 hour/minute mark for MiLB archive subscribers.

On the first pitch of his at bat, Wilken fouled the ball off his front leg, and he immediately left the box, bent over for a good while, trying to stretch out his left calf area. After a couple of minutes with Trainer Jeff Paxson, Rick Sweet came out and pulled him from the at-bat. Wilken was able to walk back to the dugout, more of a hobble than a limp. I'm not a doctor but play one on Brewerfan forums, and am guessing (and hoping) it'll just be a nasty contusion and some residual pain for Brock, likely sitting out Thursday's doubleheader, but we'll see...

I love how the men in Wilson don’t let their lows keep them low.

Nearly no-hit yesterday, they bounced back nicely with a 5-3 win on the road.

- Frederi Montero on base 5 times.
- Handelfry Encarnacion 3 times, including another homer.
- First 2026 homer for Kevin Garcia.
- Not deterred by going 1-for-13 with RISP.
- Terrific outing for Carlos Carra, who was also good for the first 68 pitches of his prior start (before the wheels fell off in that one). He threw another 88 pitches today.

Though I do feel bad for Nick Monile.

The guy hit .340 with 84 walks and 42 Ks in his last 2 college seasons. So he’s clearly a capable player.

Thrust directly into Low-A ball, he’s now 1-for-33 with 9 walks and 21 Ks, after a golden sombrero today.

The AA Shuckers’ losing skid is now 6 games, but don’t blame DH/C Darrien Miller (7-for-last-12 with 3 homers). RHP Jaron DeBerry needs a bounceback start (37 pitches, 2 outs, 3 runs in last outing).

High-A Wisconsin have dropped 5 of 7 games, but look to turn the corner behind LHP Wande Torres (5.82 ERA, 1.76 WHIP, 10.6 K/9 in 17.0 IP) at Peoria tonight. The Timber Rattlers lead the Midwest League with 33 homers, with 3 Rattlers notching 6 each.

Still no sign of Peña in the T Rats lineup. I’m afraid was no mere heat induced faint; not playing since April 22 and seeing a neurologist is a really bad combo.

hope the kid’s alright

Just a couple of notes from tonight thus far..

- DeBerry... tough start to the year. Any chance he is working through injury of some kind?

- I had this feeling with Burke last year and I feel it with Fischer this year. Couple of high level college bats ... they feel like gamers to me and possibly bored once they have 'defeated' a level of competition? Burke had a good run with the Rattlers last year then settled but I just had a sense he was 'over it' if that makes sense. He gets called up to AA and hits so well to end the year. Now he starts the year off on fire in AA and is settling again. Fischer feels the same to me. I will be watching when both get moved up respectively to how they respond...

- I actually don't know which of the Rattlers 3 OF's should be moved up first. The answer might be all 3. Most will argue for one of Josh or Braylon and I wouldn't argue with it. But Ragsdale has quietly come along and has now relatively matched their production. College aged - has definitely played the most out of the 3 of them in his life... would not be surprised if an 'early' call up was needed if he was the choice.

Well DeBerry wasn't great tonight, he got burned by his defense in the 3rd. Dasan Brown called off O'Rae on a shallow pop up and then the ball dropped between them for what should have been the third out.  Then it just snowballed on him from there. Even then, he loaded the bases and had some bad luck when he got struck by a comebacker that extended the inning.  He should've been thru the 3rd inning 7-3 on 55 pitches if they catch the pop out.  Instead, needed 21 more pitches and allowed four more runs.
