Here's hoping tonight is the night that Chourio breaks out of his mini-slump.  Dude is pressing harder than a dry cleaner.

Crow on pace for a 63 pitch complete game

Well, Crow just needed 15 pitches to get through the second. If he doubles his pitch count every inning like that, he’ll have a 120-pitch 5th.

All managers do really dumb things.

That the Brewers have the 2nd highest winning percentage in MLB since Murphy took over is probably a pretty good sign that he does really dumb things with less frequency than other MLB skippers.

Managers, in baseball and soccer, are like song titles, movie titles, short stories, novel titles, etc. A good one makes the collective 10% better. A bad one makes it 30% worse.

I think Murphy's underrated skill is teaching the game and understanding how to do it without alienating professionals. He can be both supportive mentor and demanding boss. That maybe doesn't fly in LA or NY or BOS or CHI, but it really works here.

People make fun of the "psychological" factors not because those things are silly or non-existent, but because they are hard to measure. I'd say Murph's abilities as a leader are a big part of his record as a skipper. And the nice part of that theory is that it also helps explain why CC was successful here. We can all dislike the kids at the press conferences (I do), but Murph just does things a certain way and doesn't really care what people think. That can be a very good quality when you're managing a team that's usually going to feature a bunch of pre-arb guys, some with a ton of promise and talent. You can really see these qualities when you watch Murph and Miz interact, for example.

Just imagine how much better they would be if the pitchers never made bad pitches, the hitters never failed to bring in a runner from third with less than 2 outs, and the fielders never made an error.

It's ok to criticize the mgr.

I know it goes against all the rules of some poster's moral compass, but really, it's ok...

Reasons why I couldn't be a baseball broadcaster:

There's no way I could refrain from calling Coleman Crow Cameron Crowe approximately a million times. Probably with a bad pun each time. We'd be getting down into references to Orlando Bloom in Elizabethtown by the third inning.

Another reason I would fail as a broadcaster:

I was impressed by Levering’s ability in the moment to call the person fielding a ground ball the “ball attendant” (on the right field side) since it is impossible to determine if the person is male or female. He/she reminds me of the “Pat” character from SNL years ago.

Especially in the leadoff role

He needs to relax.  I get the theory behind hitting him leadoff but he looks like he's trying to win the MVP every at bat.  Moving him down in the order is where I'd start
