Walks will get you a ticket back to the minors.

The Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday optioned left-handed starter Robert Gasser back to Triple-A Nashville and called up right-hander Carlos Rodriguez. Gasser walked four in 4⅓ innings in an 11-3 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday.

In fact, Gasser's line was littered with fours: 4⅓ IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 4 K. This was his second start since being called up May 17, when he started against the Minnesota Twins. In that game, Gasser went four innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits, two walks and three hit batters while striking out three.

Rodriguez is up for the second time. He made two relief appearances in April, allowing one run (a homer) in four innings on five hits with no walks and five strikeouts.

With Gasser not in the rotation, the Brewers will need a starter, likely to come next weekend against the Houston Astros. Right-hander Coleman Crow is a likely choice.

Excellent.  Sproat next please.

is there anyone that wouldn’t “undo” the Freddy trade right now?   At the time, we didn’t know that Woody & QP would be injured, but we could sure use Freddy right now.

Sproat has a healthy line first time through the order against good competiton. There is plenty of room for that in the pen

I wouldn't undo the Freddy trade right now. Jett Williams will hopefully make an impact yet this season and Freddy would be our #3 starter on this team, maybe #4.

I think if you put this to a poll you would be shocked at the results.

Also, kind of funny that this article is talking about walks being an issue for a starting pitcher and you are wanting Peralta back.

You’d have Freddy behind Henderson?  I generally got sick of “big game Freddy” as well, but he was clutch for us last year and would be the only starter on our roster with sustained success at this point.

if we’re throwing AAAA players like Sproat and Gasser, we’d definitely have room for Freddy.

i get your point though.  If Jett can take over and free us from the Hamilton/Rengifo experiment… that would help.

Henderson has 11 career starts between last year and this year and has yet to give up more than two runs in any of them.

Freddy has 11 starts this season and has given up more than two runs in 5 of them.

Just data points to consider.

100% Me. I wouldn't undo it and I think it'll turn out a wildly successful trade.

kind of ridiculous to call Sproat AAAA, when he can hit triple digits with crazy movement. At age 25, he just needs to harness it and has been very good the first time through the order, in general. Definitely can pitch at this level, even though you keep bashing him. In a normal year, he is coming in relief and not having to face lineups the second time.

Huh?

What an extreme lack of foresight and patience. Jett hasn't even arrived yet and Sproat has made one of the biggest velocity leaps in baseball this year, throwing an easy 99. Mowing down lineups two times through and potentially just some strength and stamina build up away from from being a top of the rotation type starter.

Meanwhile Mets fans are ready to send out Peralta for whatever they can salvage.
