Casey Mize, Jose Soriano and Kyle Bradish are worth a look with cheap contracts and arbitration years ahead.

Possible Trade- Jett Williams, Tyson Hardin and Brock Wilken

Reid Detmers, Robbie Ray and Kevin Gausman would cost more money but would cost less prospect capital in return.

Possible Trade- Coleman Crow and Josh Adamczewski

Michael Wacha would cost less in prospects but his future years are a gamble.

Possible Trade- Braelon Payne and JD Thompson

1. Casey Mize- 2.70 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and $6.15 million and free agent in 2027

2. Jose Soriano- 3.49 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and $2.9 million and arbitration eligible

3. Kyle Bradish- 3.61 ERA, 1.35 WHIP- $3.55 and arbitration eligible for 2027

4. Reid Detmers- 4.39 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 2.7 million and free agent in 2027.

5. Michael Wacha- 3.77 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and $18 million in 2027

6. Robbie Ray- 3.38 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and $25 million free agent

7. Kevin Gausman-  4.33 WRA, 1.35 WHIP and $22 million free agent in 2027

Arbitration eligible in 2027 but not a FA until 2029.

That being said, I like him the most on the list.  Fairly even splits between LHB and RHB, and will need a LHB to get through the NL (Ohtani, Schwarber, Harper, Freeman, Muncy, etc.).  He will cost a pretty penny.

I’m a prospect hoarder but I don’t think Payne and especially not Adamczewski are worth swapping for any of these guys who barely move the needle. Jett to me is much more redundant and tradable and should be the guy they try to make the centerpiece of any big trade they make

Robbie Ray would give the Brewers the best long term track record of this group and the experience they need for playoffs with Woodruff out of the picture. To start I offer Wichrowski and Kuehner and go from there.

It’s really tough to predict which AL teams will be sellers and which ones will stand Pat/ buy.

I think my main priority is wanting a starter who you’d be comfortable with starting a playoff game. We have enough depth options to get through the regular season IMO.

Sonny gray is the guy I wanted, but if the Red Sox continue to play well they probably aren’t going to sell.

I think you’ve put together a pretty good list of guys to consider and who may be available. I’m not really sure that the Angels should trade their guys, but who knows what they’d do. I like Mize, but I think the tigers hold onto their guys. I don’t want anyone expensive for next year (wacha). I’m not sure the blue jays or orioles sell. So that might leave us with Robbie Ray as a decent fit, but don’t look at his home/road splits.

Count me out on Ray. His underlying metrics, particularly his precipitous drop in K%, are alarming. He's still walking everyone and their daughter, too. I think he would get lit up in a postseason series.
