Almost like bad teams win against good teams once in awhile in baseball

Are the Cardinals a good team?

Pat Murphy said Joey Ortiz was dealing with a neck issue coming into the game, aggravated it swinging in his first AB He will get an MRI to determine the extent, but said it's more under the scap than the neck

Jett just had his first game action in a month tonight, I don’t think he’s the guy if that MRI comes back with bad news. Makes more sense to pull up Adams. Hamilton can be the backup SS, and is already getting the bulk of 3B innings.

Joey Ortiz Injury Details
  • Incident: Exited early during a game against the Minnesota Twins after feeling discomfort during a plate appearance.
  • Location: Lower neck area extending toward the shoulder blade/scapula.
  • Status: Evaluated day-to-day while undergoing further imaging like an MRI

This looks like a police report. 😀😀

Looks like Jett got injured AGAIN. So he’s definitely not an option it would seem.

Did you live near St. Louis?

No … I was attending college in east Texas, but a close friend lived in St. James MO & got us tickets through his dad.

the offense needs to pull its head out of its ass.    We put too much pressure on the pitchers.  Too damn much

In the 1st inning w/the bases loaded, BA mentioned something about the Brewers having a 'sense of urgency' about these situations. That really ticked me off. I honestly think they need to look to simply put up a fundamentally sound AB, just as if you were leading off the inning, runner on 1st w/one out, whatever. No "looking to hit a fly ball" or anything else that causes them to squeeze the handle too tightly. They're human though. easier said than done.

Agreed. I put Miz, Harrison, Henderson and the Crew against the Cubs in a series any day.

That highlights the importance of winning the division and getting one of the top 2 seeds.  A team that has to play a wild card series is probably not going to be in position to start its best pitcher in the first game of the  division series

Luke Adams is my guess. But Hamelton has played 3rd before.

Eddys Leonard might have gotten a chance with Joey’s IL stint … but he’s now with the Giants

How big was Jackson Chourio’s catch tonight too. That’s how you win by one run!

Woah weird.  I was just watching the replay and came to say that catch probably saved the game.

People don’t want to hear this but Jesus Made probably isn’t relatively close to a call up. Some chance late next year, virtually none this year.

It’s unfortunate they weren’t able to keep Shewmake. There just isn’t much IF depth at the upper minors without him.

Some chance of Luke Adams but he’s only an option at corner infield, not particularly versatile. Not really a great fit for a part time utility role.

Yeah.    Their defense hasn’t been as stellar as it has been in the past.    It’s not terrible.   It’s just not elite.     We need more plays like that

Pitching and defense has always been the philosophy.  The FO obviously felt the offense was good enough, we'll see.

If he needs an IL stint this is where you'd like Shewmake, who can play three spots on the INF pretty effectively. If they need to make a move, unless there's another Shewmake rattling around in the ether I suspect it'll be a move people will be disappointed by, like adding Ethan Murray. A longshot might be Eric Brown JR, who was just promoted to AAA & has versatility.

Yeah, Adams is intriguing as a bat.  But you can maybe hide him at 3rd on Misiorowski starts when half the batters are getting struck out, otherwise every projection is he's a first baseman.  Would be ideal to have some versatility to get Turang a day off at some point next week and also not play Hamilton and Pratt every day.  It might just have to be a Murray/Brown/Zamora type.

Combo of power & plate discipline, maybe even too much discipline. He IS intriguing. I don't blame them for giving him some run at 3B given some of the other talent in the system, but I agree he looks like a 1B. If he ever DOES play 3B in a Misiorowski start, I'll bet it would be bunt-o-rama. ATTEMPT to, anyway😁.

I hope he has improved at 3B since his Appleton days.  He wasn't a very good fielder then, so there was a lot of room for improvement between now and then.

One of my favorite players to come through Appleton though.  Super nice kid, extremely fan friendly, signed a ton of autos for anyone who asked, and got plunked constantly!  :)

Sorry everyone, you're no longer allowed to post in real-time about your thoughts.

It so weird. When the Brewers do dumb stuff people say dumb stuff. It makes sense to me in an in game thread but I know the Anntenasio family hates it.They are the only people who could possibly care what other people say that they don't agree with about a baseball team.
