Pete Crow-Armstrong & Alex Bregman are the first MLB teammate duo to combine for: 25+ home runs 25+ walks 50+ RBI 50+ runs scored in a calendar month since Roger Maris & Mickey Mantle in July 1961.

Cubs also set a National League record with 62 HRs in a single month.

It’s pretty amazing considering that the Brewers offense is just as good.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I’m more concerned that Harrison was just a flash in the pan.

Boston kept him in AAA all of last year for a reason.

Probably see Sproat now when rosters expand

i'm unreasonably mad about last night and I turned it off after the 2nd inning. we're a very good team, but our specific deficiencies really concern me

i'm sure dodgers, Phillies, braves, cubs fans feel the same way

I don't know crap about pitching, though I did once throw a complete game shutout on JV💪, but it seemed like Kyle either threw a low and away pitch for a ball or grooved one over the plate. nothing inside.

I may be wrong, but i'll be tuning in tomorrow night. come on crew! we can do it!

I seen a dozen posts about Harrison has to be hurt to being a flash in the pan etc. Murphy after the the game.

If his diminished velocity continues it is absolutely a concern.

If he goes out in a playoff series against the Cubs or Dodgers sitting 91-93 with his fastball, he is going to get crushed.

It should be Miz, Henderson, bullpen game. He shouldn't be out there at all if he's throwing 91 still and not unless they're up 2-0.

Worst game of the season. The failure of Frelick to challenge that ball-called-strike on the strike-em-out-throw-em-out DP, and the failed Bauers flip to Harrison were early back-breakers. They had a chance to make Holmes work in the heat early, and let him off the hook. Had they been able to get to the pen, perhaps they could have made things harder the rest of the week. There should be an acknowledgement that the game was a great set-up for the Cubs. Holmes' sinker was incredible at times last night in the thick air. A perfect foil for Wrigley's windy weather. But it doesn't change the fact the Brewers were collectively poor.

It's obvious that Harrison's velocity and tipping were the primary culprits responsible for the massacre, but the Brewers TERRIBLE performance was team-wide. They weren't ready to play. Blame it on the heat/humidity/nerves/youth/Cubs/Wrigley/Murphy/whatever... Doesn't matter. That was an embarrasing performance, and I expect that they will be ready to play tonight.

Putrid performance.

I have hope that Murphy/Harrison are being truthful about his mechanics being out of whack, which could explain all of it (velo, movement, location, and tipping). But I still kind of feel like they should option him or IL-him or something so that he can rest up and get things straightened out. If he's injured and waiting to have surgery, that's fine, but then his role needs to be lessened so that you can control for a blow-up outing, which he's proving he's capable of having. It's games like last night that jeopardize his being able to be trusted to pitch in the playoffs unless it's part of a bullpen-game.

I tend to believe that his good fastball has more to do with movement and location than pure velo, but it's always nice to have 2-3 more clicks. His location last night was middle-middle. Even w/o tipping, the Cubs lineup will rock you. You simply have to hit your spots, and he couldn't do it. Credit the Cubs with keeping him in the zone, but it wasn't hard with him spraying pitches all over the place whenever he tried for a corner.

I agree, also he has no stamina and usually blows up in the 4th inning or so if you look at the past 2 months. Once threw the order is all he is good for.

It’s easy for fans to look ahead and salivate about the staff next year. Truth is we have question marks with both Harrison and Priester being more than a flash. And if Sproat will ever get consistent command

He reminds me of a lefty Patrick sometimes the way he just looks like he’s laboring so hard out there.

Maybe he’d be better served coming out of the pen where he just rock and fire for an inning or two and doesn’t have to pace himself for the long outing he won’t have anyway,

Kind of late in the season to try to reinvent him now, though.

Pitching is almost never as lasting and consistent as people want it to be. People were penciling Quinn Priester into our rotation for the next 5 years a year ago. Now there’s the question of if he’ll ever be that guy again. People penciled in Eric Lauer long term.

People were calling Harrison a 1/2 and Cy Young candidate back in May.

Consistent year to year starters are harder to find than we want to believe when it’s May and Harrison is blowing hitters away.

That’s part of the reason that Freddy Peralta was a lot better than we want to give him credit for, even if he hasn’t had success this season.

True statement because he "was" good.  He now is defiantly near the end of his career.

But taking away innings is not really reinventing him.  We will just have a team with a lot of short inning pitchers or relievers which is definitely not an ideal situation.

No but you’re taking him out of his routine right now which is to pitch once every 6-7 days.

Of course he isn’t really giving us any innings on that routine anyway so if he could pitch more effectively by coming out every 3-4 days and give us 2-3 strong innings where you’re not asking him to eat up a bunch of innings, I’d take it.

Anyone know why the trend now when position players pitch is to throw slow pitch softball style instead what it used to be of just throwing normal balls on a line but obviously slower than a normal pitcher?

Not just any team, the damn rivals. BA is just out of touch. And at this point, Levering is damn good at his job and deserves the full time gig.

I keep saying that I know a 50+ year old who throws a knuckleball... 😉
