I come back to this as well. That Padres series felt horrible. To bounce back the way they did with 3/4 vs. the mighty Dodgers was a huge, immediate swing to the positive.

Without a doubt the turning point from hopefull to confident for the boys.

Another great thing about this is that they played the most difficult road to get here. They played the highest possible seed the entire postseason run. It's not like they got to play Cleveland in the World Series.

You think you can hurt me? I watch Wisconsin sports. You can't hurt me.

I've seen Cubs fans, including Kaplan, saying that the Cubs live rent free in their heads because he said this just minutes after the game. The same fans that chant "Green Bay Sucks" at ball games that don't even involve the Packers, no matter what sport they are watching. Irony's a pretty ironic thing.

People are crying about how little excitement the players had on the field.

people are weird lol

I’m very much happy the Brewers won but also a little disappointed that the baseball season is over until who knows when with this CBA.

That came up as a push notification on my phone.

What a horse crap, manufactured, out of context “headline”.

This day keeps getting better & better. Winning a world championship & pissing off ESPN all in one shot.

In fairness to them, they have to find something to detract from a championship being won by a city not sitting on an ocean.

If we have to wait for more baseball then I can't think of a better way to start the wait.

We are next to a body of water though.

Jealousy is never a pretty thing.

Sadly it could be a long awhile, I guess owners are willing to "burn things to the ******* ground".

If MLB is never played again, the Milwaukee Brewers will be the last WORLD CHAMPION!

So we have that going for us...

"Rent free" is cringe and is so transparently only said when all coping mechanisms have been destroyed. It's basically "I'm mad but I have nothing to use." The quote is funny as hell, it's a great line, he was saying it to the fans  and it's hilariously obvious that Megill spends time on r/nlcentralmemewar. You can make fun of your rival and then go party, you can do both of those things.

Here is your reminder that WI has more recent MLB, NFL and NBA titles than Illinois.

My favorite is the espn headline about Contreras being the mvp batting .385 and winning 10 abs challenges.

hahahaha.   That’s going to be a new metric for catchers.   Abs challenges!!

I can’t wait until that gets put into WAR somehow

Okay, I can actually compose some baseball-related thoughts.

1) This game seemed to turn for me in the bottom of the 4th, with Bauers saving Hamilton from another bad throw and stranding Rays' runners at second and third. We added the second run the next half inning, and things began to feel real.

2) Every time during the postseason when things could have turned against us...they just didn't. Tonight, there were two more instances, after William's throwing error and the ball hitting the bag in ninth. It's wild that this was a relatively low stress game, but we were two balls to Palacios away from seeing the tying run at the plate. Time and again, the vibes just never got bad. It wasn't like "here we go again." It was, "okay, next play." When we did have those moments as fans, they came after losses, and everyone on the team had time to regroup. They just responded all postseason.

3) This feels like one of the most team World Series ever. Our mid-leverage bullpen arms pitched like elite lockdown closers. Our lockdown closers pitched like borderline superhumans. The bottom of our order just kept getting on base. We saw a million pitches. William suddenly became a challenge God. Yelich put up a .400 OBP in the playoffs. Pratt turned in one of the wildest ride anyone has seen and ended up getting 6 straight hits and then a massive sacrifice fly. Imagine the nerves if it's 3-1 in the ninth instead of 4-1.

4) Murph knew what his guys had to give. He had Megill in the perfect spot and Ashby ready for one batter if needed. This was a well-managed series and playoff run, despite the inevitable suboptimal decision-making on one or two occasions. Even those occasions, things usually worked out. The only real error was leaving Abner in in LA in Game 3, but we won anyway. Like William said, "We are that team."

5) Underrated aspect of this win is the Trop's fly ball suppression. Mis was great, but I wonder if some of the deeper drives sneak out at the keg or elsewhere. Took away some homers from us too over the course of the series, but it was absolutely a net benefit. And Mis pitching to contact was so cool. Just nobody could square him up, and that should terrify the league.

6) I said it earlies, and I'll say it again. San Diego is now in the position we've been in. It's "Man, if it weren't for that team standing in our way, we really could've done it." That series, like this run as a whole, took everything. A little luck, a little magic, and a lot of great pressure ABs. Gary Sanchez walk alone might be deserving of a statue. I am now in the wonderfully human position of hoping Padres fans and Rays fans and Mariners fans get to experience this too, hopefully not at our expense, because they deserve this joy too.

7) I can't wait to watch every interview and highlight. This is everything my sports fan heart has ever wanted, and it only took decades. I'm genuinely not sure sports feels the same after this for me, but that's a good thing. We did it! And now we get to be reminded of it in planned and unexpected moments forever. So happy for the city and for all of us!

Go Crew!

I absolutely wanted them to win it down in the trop but there was a small part of me that thought well if they don’t, I get to watch these guys play at least another home game and win the championship at home. And I’m a little sad for no more games this year 🙂

I'll believe the season is missed when I see it. It just doesn't benefit anyone to not play, not now when the sport has been enjoying a nice rejuvenation of sorts. I'll bet at worst, it's a 150-game season or something. Pretending you're going to cancel a season has been the move across every sport for a while now.

I feel this and have felt this coming on since about Bauers' home run against Snell. It happened after the Bucks won their title. It happened after the GBP won a while back as well. The fight is over.

I'll still be here and I'll still go to games and still will do almost all of it. But the countless nights agonizing over AAA roster moves trying to will some rotation relief up to the big leagues and feeling like I need to get to 10-12 Rattlers games so I can report back to family and friends that 'help is on the way' and the almost sleepless nights after a blown save because that could be difference in a 1 or 2 seed, etc

That part might be gone. We did the dang thing. Time to rest a little. I might even try to get a new hobby :)

... also very grateful for all of it.

Baseball may be over, but I'm watching all 13 games again. I'm going to enjoy every minute (if I mute John a little).

Going to do the same thing.

For all the (mostly deserved, especially compared to what Benetti and a few others might bring to the table) guff the Fox crew gets, I have to say that Joe Davis' call of the final out was excellent. It felt properly big without being synthetic. Hats off there! Between that and Levering's pennant clincher, we've got all we need to keep us happy and nostalgic for a long, long time.

It's so crazy the difference between watching playoff baseball and having a temporary (even if often genuine) rooting interest and watching it with your own team front and center.

I remember the 2014 and 2015 Royals runs and being really attached to that team because of its Brewers connections and Midwestern vibes, and those tense, tense games were FUN and memorable. It was the right mix of adrenaline and small jeopardy (I wanted them to win, but not to the point that it was going to impact my day). Whereas watching your true team? It's just a lot of waiting for dread. I don't need to same more about that. We all know it. It's exhausting. One of the great things about winning it is that we all get to fully enjoy this in retrospect forever. That's hard to do in the moment.

I'm also excited about future Brewers teams. They may never get back here, but that will just be sports. It will just be baseball. And it'll mean something no matter what, but for the game to be what it is at its best, a source of mostly joy? I'm so looking forward to that. I'm with all the posters here, and with Robin Yount. They got the monkey off a lot of our backs last night.

I love this team. I loved hugging a Venezuelan colleague today because they saw my shirt and wanted to talk about Chourio and Contreras. I loved just knowingly pointing at the Brewers diaspora wearing their gear around town. This fanbase is bonded, and it's awesome.
