The owners are right to take that position, too IMO.  The financial playing field needs to be leveled like all the other major sports have done

Yah, the narrative the Brewers are proof that everything is fine and just be the Brewers is rather absurd. The Brewers are a historical outlier and always will be. You could change nothing about baseball and a small market team will never have the kind of consistent success the Brewers are currently on. Mainly because now all teams, large market and small, will try to mirror different parts of what the Brewers did. While we are on the top of the hill now, I think many unwisely think we will just stay ahead of the curve if baseball stayed the same. When our time of dominance is over and the next rebuild/run has to take place, I don’t know that we want baseball to look like this.

I don’t know how extreme things need to change, but there needs to be change. You can’t tell me you look at Kyle Tucker’s contract and say “Yah, I love this kind of financial manipulation”.

What constitutes baseball revenues is actually pretty simple - ticket sales and gameday parking/concessions, broadcast revenue, and merchandise sales.  Anything real-estate/entertainment district/offseason event revenue - related shouldn't be considered "part of the pie" for players.  Having a leaguewide sharing of broadcast revenues (local and national), while allowing individual markets to keep and use their own revenues generated from all the rest as they see fit for player/staff compensation and covering other yearly expenditures, is what the new CBA needs.  Nothing more, nothing less.  If that is set up and no salary cap remains, I'm all for that.  But that will never happen because the players union thinks their players are also entitled to a bunch of the revenue pie that isn't associated at all with baseball activities and doesn't want to consider many of the operating costs owners/organizations have to deal with as a debit to team balance sheets.  At some point, both sides need to be realistic with each other and find common ground - I just think they're going to lose at least a healthy chunk of next season to finally do so, which sucks

Why should those things not be considered part of the pie? Would those things exist if it wasn't for the players and the games? Certainly not but this is where the subject gets messy. You can't accredit all of that revenue to the players and they will never agree on what portion of that revenue is accredited to players.

I do not believe calling something "incredible" is a diss.

Perhaps diss was the wrong word.  Dismissive?
