I played in the Mexican Leagues one winter. The scenery is nice and lodging is inexpensive. I was down there for 2 weeks, but watch what you do; you pick up a nagging injury down there it follows you around for a while.

my agent keeps on telling me that i have a lot of potential but have been looking for a team to sign with for about a year. Maybe a trip to the indy leagues will get my confidence up to get back to the bigs.

Take it from me.... it's really good to have that one really big career year and then get one of those Chan Ho Park, Gary Matthews Jr. type contracts like I did.

I had been in AA for a few years with the same club, was promoted to AAA and was finally signed to that big MLB contract this summer. Whenever I express my admiration for how another club manages their assets, I get threatened to become designated for assignment. It's too bad I'll be under the control of that club for at least the next six years, but I may get a seven year itch.

I was released mid season last year. I'm kind of in the Rick Ankiel boat. I started off gangbusters in the Majors at a very young age and now I am trying to work myself back up to the big show at another position while I'm still semi-young.

It'd be nearly impossible to top this post in regards to this thread. Genius. But I don't know whether your post or sig is funnier.

I recently attended an open tryout but as I've yet to receive a call back for a second tryout, it appears that I will not be signing with this baseball club.

Sometimes being in the big leagues is not that good, too much restrictions and scrutiny. Sometimes I wish I'm a free agent again trying out with teams.

usually it feels like it doesn't matter how well i'm hitting or that i'm a five-tool guy, that there's always some bigger, flashier prospect the organization has their eye on instead.

If not an indy league, then maybe the Sally league?

I got traded this weekend. The least they could have done was bench me the game before. I'd heard the rumors, but I thought I was off the block this late in the season.

Is this guy's name Barry? Should we boo him?

I'm still hoping for the Yankees (or any really rich owner) to come along and offer a really big contract so I can sit back, relax and just play occasionally for the next 5 or 6 years while living in the lap of luxury. In the meantime, I'll just keep toiling away with the small-market club I'm with -making sure I wash my own uniform, fly commerical instead of charter and eat grilled cheese instead of filet mignon.

I got a trainer I could hook you up with...she's real good with physical work...will definitely get you in shape in a hurry...very dedicated to her work too... i often see her downtown various weeknights as she walks from corner to corner, addressing random men with what I can only assume is workout tips...she seems to get hired quite a bit though...not sure if you'd want to pick a trainer who can't attune to only a single man's workout needs... still not sure what her stance on performance enhancing drugs is though...
