Look what happened with his older brother. Drafted by the Vikings in the 5th round, they got impatient during his rookie camp and released him, signed by the Raiders and was 1st Team All-Pro last year, 2nd team the year before. Cautionary tale about getting impatient with rookie kickers.

Hanson was waived/injured; he isn't making the roster. Jones is back practicing, so he's OK. Tenuta is still on the injured list and not practicing. Heath was getting some reps with the 1's today. A good sign that he's making the final 53.

Grichuk has a 491 OPS since acquired, Cron 563 OPS and is on the IL. Through 26 PAs, Schanuel has a .538 OBP. Not OPS - OBP.

I don't see a TE on the waiver wire making it on the 53. Unlikely that any will be better or know the system better than Allen. They'll sign a couple to the practice squad as a priority. There just aren't many good ones out there period, much less good ones who will be waived by another team. I still wonder if Walker playing over Nijman is because they think he's better or because they know what they have in Nijman and want to see what they have in Walker. I don't see Telford or Tenuta making it. They have enough tackles in Bakh, Tom, Nijman, Walker, and Jones. Tenuta's injury was described as "long term", so I think they put him on waived/injured and sign him to the practice squad. With the injury, unlikely anyone keeps him on their 53. Wilson is forcing their hand. If he makes it, then Carpenter/Leavitt likely both make it because of special teams. I would put Wilson, Carpenter, Gaines, and Cox ahead of a 10th OL. My guess is Gaines/Cox are 53/54.

Really want to see what an offseason in the lab can do for him. The best thing he can do is increase his strike % on the CB so that hitters don't sit on the FB. He's only given up one HR as a Brewer this year. Only Uribe (17.2 IP, 0 HR) has a lower rate than his 0.4/9 innings.

Dodgers are only 4.5 games back for #1 overall seed. Braves could easily have something to play for.

And that includes a stretch of 10 games against the Cardinals and the White Sox where they went 8-2 against two teams that are 55-72 and 49-77. Excluding those two bad teams, they are 19-16 since the beginning of July.

Since the beginning of July, the Cubs are 27-18. The Brewers are 26-18. The Cubs have gained 0.5 games over their last 45 games.

I would also offer a gift in exchange - something that you will offer to do for them, a baked good, a fresh-caught fish or hunted animal cooked up. Reciprocity works well in marketing and nudging people towards a desired behavior.

You could do the old-fashioned way and write them a letter. You know their address. If that doesn't work, put a diphenhydramine tablet into a hot dog and lob it over the fence.

Not sure where you're getting your numbers on Houser from. OPS-A: 1st half: .774 2nd half: .704 Last 28 days: .692 August: .566 WHIP: 1st half: 1.539 2nd half: 1.344 Last 28 days: 1.328 August: 1.041 And he's been unlucky - he had a .826 July OPS-A, but that was likely due to having a very unlucky .383 BAbip that month. For the season his BAbip is .333, and he's been especially unlucky with runners on base (.384 BAbip compared to .295 with nobody on base). He's averaging 1.0 HR/9, right there with Burnes (0.9) for tops among starters on the team. I don't see any reason to remove him from the rotation.

They've been bad the last two years, so they've had high draft picks and they've traded away good players for prospects (Darvish, Pederson, Rizzo, Baez, Bryant, Kimbrel, Williams, Robertson). Trading away those guys, they should have a good farm system.

Long-haul trucking and heavy machinery, yes. That will be the toughest to move from petroleum. (An alternative already exists - rail. The rail infrastructure overhaul is another topic.) But what % of trucking is short-haul/less than 400 miles a day? Box trucks? Contractors/home repair? And what % is local delivery vehicles (USPS, UPS, FedEx, Amazon)? Only a fraction of those are EV/alternative fuel. There's a lot of low-hanging fruit out there.

Some of us sweat more easily than others. That, and December through March. I vote more working from home. Especially on inclement weather days. Do we really need to go into the office when it's raining?

Rumors of Sean Rhyan being a bust have been greatly exaggerated. He's had an impressive few days of practice including going 8-0 in 1-1 reps.
