  1. Good article, thanks for sharing. It’s hard to take the claim fully at face value when the MLB spokesman clarifies, “the figures include non-cash expenses like depreciation and amortization.” Find anything hard to believe financially as well if I don't see it but every business has depreciation and amortization so not sure why that would make you not believe financial information.
  2. So much for the salary cap experts knowing the cap will be at $175 million next year, LOL. Will be at least $180 million but is not a final number and can only go up.
  3. Putting a guy 8th isn't exactly "so much confidence." I have no confidence in Black and easy enough to add Boxberger and remove Black from the 40 man. However, if things get tight could easily see Wahl or J.P. make the team so there is more flexibility to rotate bullpen pieces between Milwaukee and AAA.
  4. I agree with this except I think Lauer is optioned right away to get to a 8 man bullpen and then Woodruff-Burnes-Anderson with Houser/Lindblom fighting it out to start or go to the bullpen initially. Unless there is an injury Ray Black sure looks like he will be DFA.
  5. A little bit change of pace from some of the others, doesn't walk much but also doesn't strike out like so many others on the Brewers. With the option, certainly would rather have him than McKinney and if Garcia got hurt would be more confident in Ramirez than any other outfielder the Brewers currently have. Another former Blue Jay.
  6. I guess I could see Fisher/Garcia platoon in RF... Although maybe not a strict platoon since Fisher would get the majority of the ABs. The problem is he has been terrible against right handers in the majors and has hit left handers pretty well, especially for a left handed batter.
  7. With the open 40 man spots the Brewers can afford to do this and have a competition for the 4th/ 5th outfield spot. Some of these spots will open up again when they don't make the team. Kind of wishful thinking one of these former high draft picks will break out in their late 20s though.
  8. If the Brewers think that there is really no reason to have him on the 40 man anymore.
  9. Green is still a prospect but wouldn't be making his debut.
  10. Obvious downside is Shaw still isn't good. No reason to believe he can turn it around. Hopefully go a different route than that.
  11. I hope people aren’t forgetting how good Ramirez was for us. Ridiculous first season, all star in his 2nd year and was traded in 2nd half of 3rd year putting up 31 homers. If Turner is anywhere near that, give the guy any 3 year deal. Now. Misremembering a little bit. He no doubt had a monster first year and probably would have his second year as well but had constant knee injuries and only played about half his games. His third year his offensive production dipped quite a bit and he was a shell of his former self his 4th year when the Brewers traded him away.
  12. Money talks. He’ll leave in a heartbeat if another team comes near where he wants to be money wise. This gives me flashbacks to 1998 when the Brewers were going to give Lofton 45 million over 5 years which actually would have turned out well for the Brewers even considering length of contract. Unfortunately Lofton went back to Cleveland for 24 million over three years and the Brewers traded for a not so good Grissom.
  13. There were always exceptions to paid time off for Covid, my employer being one. I believe the law expired but not sure if something replaced it once the new administration came in.
  14. Will free up a spot on the 40 man as well. It wasn't looking good for him to make the roster and was a DFA possibility so good for him to be able to get that kind of guaranteed money.
  15. Yeah, if he hits 15 HR and steals 25 bases that will be a career year and a heck of a signing.
  16. I like this move and do actually think Hiura at first has long term potential. Striking out at a 35% clip is certainly frustrating but he is only entering his age 24 season and believe he will rebound in a big way. Wong is one of the best at 2B and should be a solid left handed addition to the lineup.
  17. I think they have done a better job lately not making it as predictable. Big E has been talked about for a while ever since New Day broke up but could see a bunch of people winning. With Wrestlemania delayed wouldn't be surprised if the winner of the Rumble doesn't end up facing the champion.
  18. Brewers have the room on the 40 man and Jordan has an option so might as well put in a claim.
  19. I don't know if he can replace Claudio as Claudio is much better against left handed hitters but Hardy is pretty even against right and left handed hitters so could be a solid addition with today's bullpen rules.
  20. No way, not having Bonds and Clemens in the HOF is just silly. Hopefully the voters punishing them vote them in their final year.
  21. One of the things I liked about having Favre at the end of his career was that whenever they dumped him/traded him he would only count minimally against the cap. Rodgers is a different story, if they traded him today it would only help them a few million cap wise. They are finally at a point after the 2021 season that they would gain significant cap space if they traded him or decided to release in extreme circumstances. For that reason I would not give Rodgers an extension this season. Can consider it after 2021 if he again has an outstanding season. Don't like the risk/reward of an extension now.
  22. Yes, there was definitely holding by the Bucs on the same play the Packers were called for pass interference. However, like previously said the Packers were holding quite a bit as well and don't recall them getting called once. It's the problem with just letting them play, guys try to get away with more and more and then they finally call one against the Packers at the end when the Packers would have gotten the ball back if not called. It is kind of brutal and makes me wish they would just call it like a regular game and do your job.
  23. https://www.nfl.com/news/the-inside-story-behind-aaron-rodgers-freefall-at-the-2005-nfl-draft Good article by Gil Brandt regarding some of the details of the 2005 draft. Interesting that Brandt knew Rodgers would likely fall to 24 and even told Rodgers that the Packers would pick him but Rodgers still elected to show up. Imagine he still felt that the 49ers would go with him.
  24. A lot of what ifs with Brees. Recall the Packers were even interested in him if Favre decided to retire after 2005 as the Packers were not confident in Rodgers.
  25. Pretty confident the Packers will handle the Bucs, probably even easier than the Rams game. Like Favre when he got old Brady will struggle in the cold.
