  1. Zona Crew up one zip on Pedro Ibarguen’s first stateside homer. Enderson Mercado on the mound has gone nine up nine down (3 K) to open the game.
  2. Carolina can’t get the bats going with three singles and two walks through five. Trailing 3-0 with Bitonti, Anderson, Di Turi due up trying to get something going.
  3. Shuckers picked up two more in the fourth on a trio of two out singles from Zavier Warren, Matthew Wood and Garrett Spain (plus a Wood stolen bag). KC Hunt finished with 5 IP | 1 R | 4 H | 1 BB | 6 K.
  4. Jason DeBerry was cruising through five before giving up a double and bomb to open the 6th. Still ended up at 5.1 IP | 2 R | 5 H | 0 BB | 4 K. Jesus Broca followed and is currently at 1.2 scoreless with 3 H | 2 K. TRats answered back with a double (Burke) and bomb (Jadher) of their own bottom six.
  5. Pretty crazy run he's on. Thru May 23rd (170 PA) 211/324/317 (86 wRC+) 14.1 BB% | 34.1 K% After May 23rd (39 PA) 333/385/833 (223 wRC+) 7.7 BB% | 35.9 K% Kinda surprised he hasn't been able to trim the K% even a little bit during this hot streak though.
  6. Nice pitching day pretty much all around on the island today... Raymond Sarmiento (17yo) 3 IP | 1 R | 4 H | 0 BB | 5 K Joan Pena (17yo) 5 IP | 2 R | 3 H | 1 BB | 4 K Jhosep Ospino (20yo) 2 IP | 0 R | 1 H | 0 BB | 3 K
  7. Thanks for posting @Samurai Bucky and for the chapters @Jim Goulart. Will have to give the whole thing a listen when I have a chance, sounds like a lot of interesting ground is covered.
  8. In 138 innings at the MLB level last year Tobias Myers posted a 73 ERA- | 96 FIP-. After last night he’s now up to 29 innings of 75 ERA- | 91 FIP- at Nashville this year. Obviously a huge difference between AAA/MLB hitters but at least a decent indicator (along with the velo) that he’s getting back to being himself after the oblique.
  9. Stolen bag and a sac fly tied it at two each. Three straight balls to the next batter, and that’s enough to trigger a mound visit. Nova finishes off the walk then gives up a two RBI triple. Now a 4-2 deficit.
  10. Jose Nova on for the 7th and immediately goes walk, wild pitch, single to put runners on the corners no outs.
  11. Jorge Quintana led off the Brewers sixth with a single, advanced to third on an E6 off the bat of Engel Paulino, and came around to score on a Frederi Montero sac fly giving the Zona Crew a 2-1 advantage.
  12. Renz went six up six down (1 K) in the fifth and sixth innings. At 75 pitches could maybe see him back for the 7th.
  13. Tyler Renz with a nice start on the AZ complex with 4 IP | 1 R | 4 H | 0 BB | 1 K so far. There have been two injury delays on GameDay in the Brewers fourth after a Frederi Montero HBP and Luis Corobo foul ball, but it was Handelfry Encarnacion who led off the inning with a ground rule double that was eventually replaced with pinch runner Engel Paulino - who stole third and scored on a Corobo groundout.
  14. The whole pitching infrastructure is huge no doubt, but going back to 2023 Brewers pitchers have been middle of the pack with a 100 FIP- (17th) and 34.3 fWAR (18th) It's when the defense (+130 DRS | +85 FRV) gets introduced to the equation that they ascend to the upper echelons with an 89 ERA- (1st) and 53.7 rWAR (2nd).
  15. First 15 Games (68 PA) 313/309/657 (162 wRC+) 0.0 BB% | 25.0 K% Next 33 Games (146 PA) 200/233/300 (46 wRC+) 3.4 BB% | 21.2 K% 13 Games Before Today (61 PA) 316/361/491 (138 wRC+) 6.6 BB% | 16.4 K% 060224 to 092924 (397 PA) 305/360/527 (143 wRC+) 7.3 BB% | 18.4 K% Took him a couple months to get there (again), but the last couple weeks have definitely been the closest we've gotten to the Chourio from the last four months of 2024.
  16. Squinting between the lines I think attacking the zone has to be a big point of emphasis for the teenage pitchers carrying the ACL staff to this point. All eight of them with at least a dozen IP have walk rates ranging between 0.0% (Tobias) and 10.1% (Enderson Mercado) compared to a league average walk rate of 11.6% (by pitchers with an average age of 21).
  17. The overall results aren’t there yet for Griffin, but one thing I noticed last night is he’s now at 15.2 IP with 71 total batters faced and ZERO walks (one HBP and four wild pitches though). Either way. it appears he’s a young pitcher who isn’t afraid to attack the zone.
  18. If you click on the Forums tab and scroll down there is an Archived Game Thread forum. Here is a direct LINK. Last nights game thread should be the top one.
  19. After a fly out to open the frame Tobias surrenders a single (stolen base) RBI single but comes back with the 4-6-3 to end the inning.
  20. & now Kevin Garcia has left the yard for the third time this year, 8-0.
  21. With a 9.49 ERA and 5.23 FIP, Griffin Tobias has had the roughest go of the teenage ACL pitchers in the early going but he goes 3U3D in the 7th to get some positive momentum going.
  22. After Quintana advanced to third on an errant pick off throw Roderick Flores singled him home for a seventh run.
  23. Quintana stays hot with his second double & second RBI of the game (plus a single, walk & two stolen bags) to make it a 6-0 lead.
  24. With only 68 pitches to get thru five Dubanewicz is back for the sixth and goes fly out, walk, fly out before a mound visit. Looks like that’s that at 5.2 IP | 4 H | 1 BB | 3 K as Griffin Tobias is on and secures the third out of the inning with a four pitch K.
  25. Frederi walked on a wild pitch scoring the fifth ACL Brewers run in the fourth inning. Dubanewicz didn’t seem to mind the long sit down giving up just a two out single while also notching his third strikeout top of five.
