  1. He couldn't have known it was out when it was only a couple rows up. We've seen players "know" a ball was out, only to have it hit off the wall. If that had happened to Braun it could have cost the Brewers the game.
  2. I'm not generally one to rip Brewer players. I just know that if I was a Cardinals fan part of me would want to hit about the next 14 hitters. That was not a deep homer at all, and we'd all have been really pissed at Braun if he was stuck on first because of his showboating.
  3. So if the ball was a few feet shorter and he was standing on first on a ball off the wall, you'd be fine with it? That was brutal. He took six steps before he started jogging.
  4. I don't know about that. He looked pretty good in the all star game. Eh, I might have to nitpick a bit here, mainly because I'm choosing to hold Ben to a fairly high standard which he's set for himself. He threw 42 pitches in two innings and walked two hitters. Now he likely pitched differently knowing he only had two innings, but then again I'm not sure we should take anything from his performance in the ASG anyway.
  5. 209 Norway hits... How's that happen?
  6. If the Brewers prefer Escobar to Hardy at shortstop long-term, they'd just as soon trade Hardy rather than move him to another position. His greatest value is at short, and someone would pay a lot for him.
  7. Sheets hasn't had a good outing (for him) in a month now. Not sure how I feel about this one... I'll be very encouraged if Sheets doesn't get hit hard, but I don't have a great feeling.
  8. Not sure if it was edited, but that Rosenthal report now says Baltimore is scouting the Brewers' AA team. And sure, Sherrill is a better option than Mota, but so are some options in the minors. To justify giving up what it would take to get a top reliever, he'd have to be a significant upgrade. Sherrill isn't significantly better than anyone on the Brewers besides Mota (Note: I'm expecting Gagne to be serviceable this half, obviously that isn't a given). Odds are pretty decent someone like Mark DiFelice, Luis Pena or Mitch Stetter could give you the 1.4+ whip from here on out that Sherrill has so far this season.
  9. I don't get all the attention for Sherrill. He only had one good season (granted, it was very good). This year he's not much better than an average reliever. His strikeouts are way down and his walks are way up, and he's 31 years old so it's not like he has his best years ahead of him.
  10. I thought of another one. Scott Kamieniecki on Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball on N64. His cut fastball broke away from lefties (for some reason?) by about a foot, and his slider did the same to righties. He was my Carlos Marmol on my franchise; the 7th and 8th innings were a black hole.
  11. Should have been Prince imagines CC as a veggie burger or a soy dog.
  12. Houston has a barren minor league system and have been joking themselves into a 'one piece away mentality' for a few years now when they should have been rebuilding. If they sign Sheets I don't see them as much better than .500 next year, and doing that would leave them with nothing else to add to the team.
  13. I'd like to see Escobar spend all of next season in AAA. He's still young. He's hit for a nice average, but isn't walking and isn't showing power.
  14. Colorado: 97 Cincinnati: 122 San Fran: 110 St. Louis: 106 Obviously that Reds game was high, but that should end up being an exception more than the rule. He's been incredibly efficient the last two games. As long as a good majority of his starts are under 115 pitches I'm just fine with his workload.
  15. My impression was that play was more a great play by Molina than a boneheaded play by Weeks, though definitely some of each.
  16. My first reaction to Hall's homer, even before celebrating, was "Holy crap, he's going to wear one tomorrow for that."
  17. Gillespie, Nelson and Braddock for Street. Starting to think they may not do anything though.
  18. Vick on Madden 04 was unstoppable. On any pass play just backpedal 8 or 10 steps, sprint to the sideline and you're home free. We would play with a "No Falcons" rule.
  19. Holy crap, that's crazy. Glad to hear you're ok. I'd be really shaken up.
  20. I like LaRoche too and think he'd be a nice player to target as the third baseman of the foreseeable future. As far as Escobar, he's still pretty young, and his bat isn't lighting the world on fire. I wouldn't mind him spending most or all of next season at AAA.
  21. I think it's important to recognize that Russ wasn't "wrong." He didn't say the Brewers couldn't, or even wouldn't win the division. He was just saying that their best chance at the playoffs, by far, was via the wildcard.
  22. How bummed do you think Wolf is? He's been hearing that some contender will trade for him. This reminds me of the Pirates randomly trading for Matt Morris a couple years ago.
  23. He's averaged 204 innings per 162 game average as a big leaguer. He came close to 200 in 04, 05, 06.
