  1. Pretty easy to agree Woodruff, Priester, and Misiorowski are rotation locks while they are healthy. I think beyond that I’d rank this as my hierarchy: 4) Patrick (I know he impressed out of the pen but he’s close to a rotation lock for me) gap 5) Gasser (only lefty and that’s why I lean toward Gasser having the leg up going into spring training) 6) Henderson 7) Sproat gap 8) Crow 9) Hall/Ashby/Zerpa (these are relievers to me, but stretch them out by all means I you desire ) 10) Carlos Rodriguez (last option on the 40 man as of today… really just an option as a spot starter or bullpen shuttle squad)
  2. On the BF pod last week when Jack and Spencer were discussing a theoretical Mets trade package, Spencer said it looks like Williams could stick at short stop. Take that for what it’s worth. In my opinion, ultimately I think it’s only super duper relevant that he could play SS in 2026 or possibly 2027 for the brewers if needed. Since we all hope Made or Pratt is our long term future at SS I’m not that concerned if he doesn’t stick at SS beyond 2027. CF is also an immediate and long term question mark so if he ends up in CF that wouldn’t be a bad consolation prize.
  3. I’m disappointed that they ended up trading Freddy, but I’m not surprised. I like Myers more than many, but Murphy lost trust in him and I’m not sure he was ever going to fit back into a prominent role on this team so including him in the trade also makes sense. I think both the players we got and their fit make a lot of sense. Sproat probably is 6th or 7th on the rotation depth chart today, but I’m sure he will pitch plenty of innings for us in 2026. even though Williams probably isn’t going to start the season in the bigs, once you’re at aaa you could make your debut any day. With his positional flexibility to play CF or SS he could get the call at either position in the event of another Mitchell injury or Ortiz continuing to be lost at the plate. I do think they should add a veteran starter to add a little stability and to eat some innings. My guess is it would be someone for $8m or less. overall I think it was a reasonable trade.
  4. I mean any minor league deal is probably fine, but not much out there on the free agent market that warrants a major league deal as far as the bench goes. we are a bit thin at SS, but I kinda figure if Ortiz is out for an extended period of time it would be either Mona or Turang to play there. M Seigler and Eddys Leonard are probably first guys up if/when there is a need. But if we get later in the season, then Pratt and Wilken may be options. I guess I’m not all that worried about our depth on the infield at this point.
  5. Maybe, but a lot of those guys have options. We see every year the Brewers start the year with some random guys who stick around for a bit before they hit the curb. Last year it was Payamps, Elvin Rodriguez, and Anderson (maybe some other guys I’m forgetting too) This might be a better plan. He’s unlikely to be ready for the start of the season and they can do a realllllly slow ramp up and insert him onto the roster when he’s healthy and they’re a a need.
  6. I know it’s not real exciting, but I wonder if Erik Fedde might be brought back. Maybe on a minor league deal if he can’t find a major league deal. I know the peripherals were not great, but he did end up pitching some important innings for us down the stretch. tough seeing him last a full season on the big league roster though.
  7. Hector Gomez does have some ties in the Dominican Republic baseball circles. I’m not sure how that really helps him with trade rumors though there are definitely some guys from the dodgers who are interesting, but if they aren’t trading us andy pages I just assume do business with another team if we insist on trading Freddy. They’re direct competition for winning the pennant and are possibly the only NL team who is already clearly better than we are
  8. The dodgers do feel like a bit of a runaway train
  9. Unless it’s a split deal or minor league deal I’m not sure I agree they should be adding a catcher. Quero probably isn’t good enough to manipulate the service time. Murphy has lauded his ability to manage a game which to me is enough to get him onto the big league roster at this point. this is probably the last year with Contreras so let’s get quero as much experience in the bigs to see if he could be the primary catcher in 2027. developing Quero is also an excuse to get Contreras more DH appearances. I don’t need to see Yelich facing many lefty starters at this point.
  10. Looks like Canada has Tyler Oneil in left. So he probably isn’t getting any playing time in left. They also have Naylor at first base so he probably isn’t getting any there either. possibly DH while looking into team Canada, I saw Rob Zastryzny committed to team Canada too.
  11. If the cubs signed Bregman just to turn around and trade Nico I’d laugh. I know Nick is in the final year of his deal, but swapping out Tucker + Nico for Bregman + Ballesteros is almost certainly a major downgrade (especially since it probably lands Seiya back in RF when they basically said they don’t want him playing in the OF last season). Keep Nico at 2nd and move Shaw into the utility role. Shaw taking those 450 at bats instead of the likes of Turner, Berti, Castro, and Lopez is where this deal really gets good for the Cubs (at least in 2026).
  12. I won’t pretend to know a lot about most of these players listed, but Sheehan definitely intrigues me the most. Trading with the Dodgers however does not. I agree with several posters that Gil would be underwhelming for several reasons. Only 2 more years of control than Freddy and shaky peripherals I know most of the rumors around Freddy have involved the Brewers seeking a rotation replacement for him (both from Trueblood in this post and Rosenthal on his numerous Freddy notes over the offseason), but I can’t help but hope for a bat. We got both an arm and a bat for Burnes and Williams so it’s probably fair to expect the Brewers to get both if they decide to move Freddy, but it just feels like there is a bigger opportunity to fill a hole with an outfielder or an infielder who could at least fake it at SS if needed. If we could use the cost savings from Freddy to sign a veteran arm as the article suggests, it’s probably less important to me to bring back a major league ready SP for Freddy. Even a Quintana or a reclamation project like Montgomery could help soak up some regular season innings. in the end I hope we keep Freddy, but i do acknowledge that the front office has generally earned my trust to build the roster and keep the competitive window open year after year
  13. Realistically I’m more annoyed about the cubs landing Bregman than I am about the packers losing. I wonder if they shift shaw to a utility infielder for a year or if they end up trading Nico. Shaw was their top prospect so I don’t think they’d move on from him after 1 year. I think Bregman is a big get for a year or two at least, but like most free agent signings the down swing might be rough for the cubs.
  14. Those guys would be interesting for sure if the jays were willing to move them. while I was playing around on the Jays roster resource page… they have Leo Jimenez currently projected as missing the roster. He hasn’t had much mlb experience and is out of options, but he was a ranked as a 45 FV prospect by fangraphs heading into the 2024 season. Might be a shot in the dark if the price is right. The lack of options really makes him tough to roster so it’d have to be a low investment. It’s also possible he’s just worse than Monasterio
  15. The Mississippi river is basically the dividing line the NBA east/west conferences. I understand the travel is different between the two leagues, but it’s a pretty logical dividing line in MLB too. It just so happens teams near the river in the MLB are in the East when the teams along the river in the NBA are in the west due to number of teams. I agree that KC, texas, Houston, and Colorado have tougher travel but its already pretty rough as it is.
  16. I like Contreras. Really nice player. I don’t see the brewers extending him (or re-signing him as a free agent). Even if they don’t have faith in Quero or Dinges as primary catcher options, spending big on a catcher in his 30s is not a risk the Brewers can or should take. I fully expect 2026 to be his last year with the Brewers.
  17. Curt Hogg said on blue sky that Will smith has the highest ever arb 2 figure at $8.55m in 2024. so the Brewers filing at $8.55m makes sense, but it’s also from 2 seasons ago. Probably a little light. also kinda surprised how much mlb trade rumors over shot the projection.
  18. I agree with you. I think our CF position has a really low floor. however… they’ve shown a willingness (even if it was out of necessity) to play Frelick and Chourio in CF. Maybe Bauers is the answer to our outfield issues when Mitchell inevitably gets hurt.
  19. Mears was a guy i expected to be non-tendered. So losing him doesnt really mean much to me. I was hoping maybe they’d try turning Collins into a true utility guy and increasing his reps at third and second, but I guess that dream is gone. Ultimately Collins’ best skill was drawing walks. I’m not going to get too worked up about trading a 4th outfielder though. I’ve never heard of Zero before tonight, but I have some faith in our pitching development and our infield defense to turn him into a useful reliever. The option certainly helps with roster construction and flexibility. the only thing that makes me nervous is that our pen is leaning very heavily left handed. I don’t think we head into the season with 5/8 relievers being left handed so I expect some more stuff to happen. I do wonder if we will be more willing to play Bauers in a corner OF spot next year. His bat showed some real promise down the stretch
  20. I love Wild Bill, but I’d be surprised to see them carry him through to free agency and they certainly won’t extend him. I think most of us will agree that Quero will be the primary back up in 2026. I think the goal is to have him move into the primary catcher role in 2027. Even though Dinges is only a year younger than Quero I don’t think they’ll go with 2 young catchers so I’d expect a veteran to be brought in. infield is the hardest for me to predict. I think I’d lean toward Made and Pratt being part of the 2027 line up. I think Vaughn will be good in 2026, but he’s already on the expensive side for this team. So he’s a trade candidate if he’s good in 2026. I just don’t think they’ll be starting 3 rookies on the infield in 2027. So id officially predict Vaughn, Turang, Durbin , Made for opening day. (Also hoping made gets the Chourio extension and timeline) im not a big believer in Lara’s bat. I’m skeptical he’s a primary outfielder by 2027. I’m hoping Chourio or Frelick can stick it in CF. Easier to find or convert someone into a corner outfielder. I’m still hopeful for Mitchell… but tough to do anything other than hope with him these days. If I had to guess, the third primary outfielder isn’t in the organization today. pitching staff looked good.
  21. Hall might be in a weird spot. Too good to be a long man/swing man, but not durable enough to be a starter or high leverage reliever. with the way the roster is playing out, if he’s here, he might find himself in AAA a time or two.
  22. Hey, William Contreras went on a heater immediately following the acquisition of Jansen. While it’s possibly a little naive to think acquiring a higher quality back up motivated Contreras, I do think Jansen was acquired with the idea he’d get more than 78 players appearances. It just so happened Contreras started hitting like his career norm right after we got Jansen.
  23. In this exercise where we are assuming everyone is healthy, I’m still taking Mitchell over either Collins or Perkins. Everything else is pretty self explanatory. could squabble over Chad Patrick in the rotation, but I agree with him over Henderson or Myers as of today.
  24. I listened to Rosenthal on his podcast today and he basically contradicts what he wrote for the Athletic. He said he doesn’t expect them to trade Peralta. Then says he’s just speculating that they would trade someone to free up payroll flexibility because that’s what they always do.
