  1. I wouldnt mind Miranda for Williams at all, but I doubt the Twins would pay big for a reliever with Duran, maybe Sal for Miranda.
  2. Christian Walker would be a perfect 1B for us, he is like Willy offensively and a borderline gold glove 1B. I really doubt we could find a way to dump Hoskins salary but if so that would be wonderful. What would a Walker contract look like 3-50ish.
  3. If Rhys and Mitchell can get/stay right it lengthens the lineup so much if not 3-6 can be super streaky (not Contreras) which is not what you want for a deep playoff run.
  4. I think we will make a bunch of early offseason trades like we saw with getting Bauers, Clarke, Dunn, Patrick for guys like Bauers, Jay, Herget, Capra and maybe Hoby, Wilson, Hicklen, Zas, Bauk. If we could get guys like Patrick or Avina in any of those trades (good potential guys not on 40 man) I would be stoked. My guess is we trade a bunch of 40 man fringe guys real soon when the offseason begins. To bad we couldn't keep Paredes to do that with as well.
  5. Agreed that Hoskins wouldn't be much in a trade. I was thinking maybe Hoskins for Mitch Garver and a prospect if you think Black is ready or want to sign a FA 1st baseman. However that isn't great because Garver was so bad and we wouldn't save all that much (6 million).
  6. My guess is that the Mariners would be looking for bats like crazy. I really don't see a trade working unless they would want Yelich (dont think he would accept deal there) or maybe Rhys. Maybe they would want Tyler Black.
  7. I like Vaughn (for almost nothing) but with Rhys around it doesn't sense. I wouldnt shake up the OF for Robert, if it was like Sal and a couple lower ranked prospect fine but my guess is that it would take 3 good pieces for Robert. The Mariners are always a good trade option if trader Jerry keeps his job. I wouldn't mind either Lowe or McMahon but again wouldnt trade a ton for either. I like McMahon d and versatility but he strikes out a ton and leaving Coors usually means a BA decrease. As you said the bat for Lowe is better but he would likely have to play 2B, which is fine but not as ideal. Burger doesn't fit the team well in my opinion. He isn't a good defender and isn't at all athletic. If he was a left handed hitter I could see him platooning at 1st and occasionally playing 3B but that won't work. I wouldnt mind Black for Luzardo straight up and then trade Rae or Civale for whatever works.
  8. Great job with the minor league reports. I am so grateful for the work you guys do with these.
  9. I know the Mets are hot but none of there pitchers scare me and there bullpen is weak. I am not so much worried about how the other team is playing but more so worried about our offense hitting one of those 2/3 games cold streaks. The D-backs pitching is similar to the mets but they have Gallen and Kelley who gave us fits even though they are having more of down years. I think the Braves rotation worries me the most but injuries on the offense kind of offset that. Maybe we can just get a top 2 spot and not worry about the 1st round.
  10. -12 defensive runs saved by baseball refence standards and that is only starting 62 games in the field. Add in 9 walks in 339 plate appearences and I will pass. I would much rather have Mone, Collins, Dunn, or even Owen Miller as a utility player.
  11. I think the Rangers make the most sense for a Devin Williams trade, their bullpen isn't good and 3 of their best relievers are free agents. The Rangers system has strong depth and 3rd base options we could get. I wouldn't mind Josh Smith like others have mentioned but really like Justin Foscue from the bat perspective. He seems like a slower Tyler Black with better hands to be a 1st baseman. My deal would be Devin and Peguero/Hoby/Bryce Wilson for Foscue, Emilliano Teodo, and Alejandro Osuna. Between Black and Foscue with the extra ancillary pieces Dunn, Mone etc. I would hope one could work at 3rd or maybe 2B if your prefer Brice to SS and keep Ortiz at 3B. Someone brought up Brett Baty, maybe Ronny Mauricio would be a better value option? He has a great arm to move to 3B and his skill set would fit into our team well. Maybe Black for Mauricio and a 2nd piece if Stearns still has thinks fondly of Black.
  12. I would love Brooks Lee, I think he is a perfect fit for the infield. I would be ok with trading Quero if that is what it took. I would in turn want a solid catching prospect back in a Devin trade. I do think that we could build a better trade maybe like Sal and Black for Brooks Lee and a mid level prospect like Yesser Mercedes. My guess is however that the Twins would move Miranda to 1st and keep an IF of Miranda, Lee, Lewis, Correa and then keep Julien around as a 1B/2B/DH especially with how often Lewis gets hurt. Making a trade much tougher.
  13. I would hate to see him go, 6'6" 250 pound players who can run and field don't come around often. His .832 obp is really impressive considering that league has an average ops somewhere around .650 (I think I remember someone pointing out). It would have been really nice to get him a month or so of AAA work but like sveumrules said there is alot of depth at 1B. I really wouldn't be opposed to him getting a shot to be the lefty platoon to 1B with Hoskins, it just is a big jump to make. If I remmeber at one point he was playing a decent CF so he does have some interesting versatility. I am at the very least in favor of a 40 man spot for him. I think he has jumped Wes Clarke in my mind as far as 1st base/bench options long term. Ultimately I like Boeve at 1B more than EMJ for the long term but he has had such an amazing 2nd half and has the high end tools that we need to keep him and at some point give him a chance. If you look at tools he has 50 hit, 50 in game power/60 potential power, 55 run, 55 field (maybe 60 judging by some of our more in the know minor league scouts here) , not sure on arm but at 1st it doesn't matter much. If he was 23 instead of 25 he probably would be a top 10 organizational prospect. With COVID and other stuff he didn't get to A ball until he was 22 so he really is a less experienced 25 year old prospect who could really be a 30/20, gold glove potential type 1B if things come together just right. I can't imagine we would cut that potential lose.
  14. I would really like to keep Bauk and Paredes. I feel like those are guys like Koenig that we hit on but injuries have hurt them. They would both be solid guys to go back and forth between Milwaukee and Nashville (if they have options left. However I agree they would be on the roster bubble if there are no trades. I added Devin and Wilson because I was just thinking for the initial 40 man is due in the offseason. I agree though Devin and probably Wilson are likely to be traded.
  15. I think Marco Dinges would be a good idea since he is kind of transitioning to the catcher spot. Blake Burke wouldnt be bad as a draft pick either to make up for the couple weeks he has missed. Since the AFL usually is a hitter friendly place I would send Wilken. I think it is more likely that he has success and can put a positive spin on the year. If things go poorly he basically goes into the offseason with the same mindset. Birchard and Woodward are good choices. I wouldn't mind sending Bishop Letson since we have been so conservative with him I don't think another 10 innings against good competition wouldn hurt (maybe to a lesser degree Knoth). From a personal interest I would like to see a guy like Braylon Payne, Made, or Pena but I understand each off those guys would be stretches.
  16. Please double check my work on next year's 40 man Likely to be kept pitchers(20)= Ashby, Bauk, Civale, Gasser (eventually to 60 DL), Hall, Hudson, Koenig, Mears, Megill, Myers, Paredes, Payamps, Peguero, Peralta, Rea, CarRod, Uribe, Devin, Wilson, Woody Others (4): Hoby (non-tender iffy), Herget, Jay, Zas (last 3 roster bubble overload) Potential Prospect Adds (6): Henderson, Patrick, Smith, Misi, Yoho, Crow, and White Likely batters kept (15): Contreras, Quero, Haase, Black, Dunn, Hoskins, Ortiz, Turang, Chourio, Sal, Mitchell, Perk, Yeli, Collins, Mone Others (3): Bauers (non-tender iffy), Capra, Hicklen Prospects (1): EMJ I am sure there are a couple more potential 40 man prospect adds that could be added. However to me it looks like 35 guaranteed roster spots with 7-14 other players who are worthy and that;s not before we add a couple players in the offseason.
  17. Well that is awesome, I totally forgot he was still in the arbitration process. Haase seems like an easy guy to keep as a backup next year and beyond possibly.
  18. Good lord is this going to be a busy offseason. We are going to have like 50 guys who deserve to be on the 40 man roster. The trade phoneline will be open in Milwaukee.
  19. How much would it cost to keep Haase? He has been sensational in 55 ab's and would be a great backup next year. I can't see us wanting/needing Sanchez back and Quero is going to need some time. 1/3? If we are signing/trading for a 3B I like the idea of trading for on from Texas, they have Jung, Smith, Foscue, and Duran as options and could use a reliever like Devin really bad (unless the pay Kirby Yates this offseason) or even lesser bullpens arms like Peguero, Milner, Wilson, Payamps. I wouldn't mind a guy like Gleyber or Moncada but they seem a bit more risky with position changes or injuries. Would a Reds 3B/1B option be a possibility they have Elly, Steer, Marte, India, McClain, Espinal, France, Candelario, Encarnacion-Strand and some prospects as infield options. Obviously some of those don't fit but I would love a Spencer Steer for Sal Frelick and a reliever based deal. Steer could play some 3B and 1B and OF if need be, I am sure the Reds would want something different ie not Sal or to trade Candy/India/CES. The Rays have a little of that in the IF as well with guys like Curtis Mead and Jonathan Aranda as potential extra trade pieces at 3B.
  20. We legitimately have 4 potential gold glove OF. Chourio +13, Frelick +10 (+12 RF, -5 LF) , Perkins +9, Mitchell +8 (only 385 innongs) Add in Turangs +22 and Ortiz +7 after a rough start. Contreras looks like he will be in the conversation for one every year as well.
  21. I hear you, I still have hope in Sal becoming a .300 hitter and think Mitchell has some 30/30 potential but both are risky and cheap enough that waiting is smart.
  22. Good point, forgot Smith on my list
  23. I know Bryan Hudson was sent down to get velo back and kind of reduce his innings, but is there an arbitration control component to it as well (probably some 40/28 man roster manipulation as well). It sounded like he was at 92 last night which is where he was at the start of the year. It just feels really weird that our best reliever is in AAA and has been effective (stat wise) before the demotion.
  24. I like Horwitz a lot as well. He is a bit small for 1st but no different than Black. He has some versitility playing some 2B and OF in the minors. He would be a great upgrade over Bauers if Black isn't a defensive 1B. If the Jays sign Vladdy long term a deal would make a lot of sense especially with Will Wagner playing well there. Black (plays OF for them) for Horwitz and a younger upside prospect (like Kendry Rojas) would be an interesting trade.
  25. My thought was 5/10/15 and then 20-25 million after. He looks like a perennial 4-6 WAR player so my guess is that 20 would be a discount but he is probably looking like a 25-30 million a year guy when he hits the open market.
