  1. And 2 more runs in Smith's 2nd inning. 2 IP, 5 H, 6 ER, 2 BB, 1 SO, 2 HBP, 2 HR...his AA ERA is sitting at 9.72
  2. TJ Shook twirls an absolute gem. 6 innings of 1 hit baseball with 11 strikeouts and Russell Smith immediately comes in and throws the lead away with 4 runs in 1 inning with 2 HR against. Incredibly painful watching Russell Smith get absolutely rocked every outing in AA while Andrew Abbot who was drafted 2 picks after him is twirling gem after gem in the MLB for a division rival.
  3. I got into the stadium when we were down 6-0. All I saw was the Brewers winning 8-0. What a freaking game.
  4. Weird comparison as they weren’t even drafted in the same draft. Abbott was drafted in 2021, 2 picks after Russell Smith not Zamora who was drafted in 2020.
  5. Minnesota has to absolutely be kicking themselves for that Mahle trade. 1.5 seasons of Mahle (tore his UCL so they only got the 0.5 seasons) and they gave up Steer, Encarnacion-Strand, and I think a minor league pitcher. Steer is having a great season and CES is destroying AAA. That trade is going to age quite terrible for the Twins.
  6. If you go to the team stats page on Fangraphs and toggle to win probability that’s where you can see the WPA, SD/MD and leverage type numbers. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=pit&lg=all&qual=0&type=3&season=2023&month=0&season1=2023&ind=0&team=0,ts&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&startdate=2023-01-01&enddate=2023-12-31
  7. Strzelecki's awful command issues have continued in AAA. He blows the Nashville 1-run lead walking in the tying run on 4 pitches.
  8. I'm guessing you meant to say Austin Riley not Matt Olson. Olson has a 145 wRC+ and leads the NL in HR. Riley has a 110 wRC+ and isn't even on pace to hit 4 WAR. The fact Riley made it over Candalerio is a joke.
  9. Sucks when you hit a 13 LA ball so hard that it carries all the way out to an OF. If that's in a gap it's 4-2 with Monasterio running.
  10. I think Rea goes back out for the 7th against 7-8-9 with Milner ready to go if it gets to the top of the order
  11. Would be nice to get some insurance runs because I am guessing the Brewers let Rea keep pitching in this game with his pitch count in great shape.
  12. Mark has been pretty hands off since he hired Stearns. You seriously think that Hader trade happens last year if Mark was a hands on owner?
  13. That play is a lot harder than you are making it out to be. He was full speed charging on a pitch where the runners are running on the pitch. He has to keep his head up to gauge the distance between the runner and 2B and had a fraction of a second to actually tag the base if he did corral the ball.
  14. And he's way overperforming his xwOBA, so this success isn't sustainable. Also the whole All-Star thing is a joke because he would not have made the team if it wasn't for the fan vote. Arcia in 2020 - .338 xwOBA in 189 PA We traded Arcia in 2021 and he barely played in the MLB. Arcia in 2022 - .329 xwOBA in 234 PA Arcia in 2023 - .311 xwOBA in 233 PA
  15. Please point to where I ever said Milwaukee develops hitters better than Atlanta? I never even mentioned Atlanta. I just pushed back against the idea that Arcia is some glaring success story for Atlanta when he's way overperforming his underlying numbers.
  16. Okay if it's about actual production...then how can you say we have had no success? Wong, Renfroe, Peterson, Urias, Tellez, Adames are all guys we acquired in the last 3 years and all of them hit better with the Brewers than they had before they got to Milwaukee
  17. Orlando Arcia has a .307 xwOBA this year and is dramtically overperforming that xwOBA.
  18. His approach changed to an approach nothing like the rest of the Brewers hitters...so why do you think the Brewers told Cutch to hit like that?
  19. Hader's numbers are wrong. You aren't including last season's numbers, but this trade is a win for the Brewers. We ended up getting Gasser, Contreras, Payamps, And Yeager for 1 year and 2 months of Hader, a 3 out RP. Gasser had some early season command issues but has been incredible over the last 6-7 starts. Contreras is a well above average catcher with 5 years of control. Payamps has been a very dependable high leverage RP with 3 years of control. Yeager is a minor league RP who has intriguing stuff. Did the trade have some locker room impact last season? Yes, but I am still hesitant to say it's the reason we missed the playoffs considering we played basically the same level baseball from June 1st to the end of the season. Our high leverage bullpen has been the best in baseball this season. Leads in WPA. 1st in SD:MD ratio.
  20. What exactly are you mad at them for? Do you think they told Cutch to be more aggressive at the plate? That doesn't really seem to lineup with how other Brewers hitters approach hitting.
  21. If Wilson hadn't pitched in that 7-2 loss, he would have been available for both an inning last night and pitching today. I think it's a perfectly adequate gripe. Why is your 5th highest leverage pitcher throwing in the 8th down 5 runs and not Matt Bush the last guy in the bullpen?
  22. If you were to gripe about something, it would be using Wilson in the 8th inning down 7-2 against the Mets instead of Bush. Wilson is available to pitch last night if it wasn't for that inning.
  23. After Counsell's comments last night, a Bush DFA felt like the only option. I don't think I have ever seen a pointed negative comment like that directly towards a player before.
  24. CLAYTON ANDREWS HIVE RISE UP!!
  25. Just a reminder that the Cardinals gave up 5 years of Oviedo for 2 months of Quintana and Oviedo has already accumulated more fWAR than Quintana did as a Cardinal and would currently be their 2nd best SP lol.
