  1. (especially if Garcia is going up to Biloxi, and they are going to put Guiliarte on the back burner)
  2. Only thing I could think of -- funny enough -- was for Made's D. If they want a shortstop, and consider him the best.
  3. Personally, I don't really see Sal as able to add the power as Brice could. Nonetheless, I think Sal has .300/.365/.440 years ahead, where a long term contract for both of them is a great idea.
  4. The unofficial 7, or even 8, man rotation. Could do that the rest of the year.
  5. Unsure he will draw much traffic, even with teams scrambling around right now. ERA over 6 and WHIP over 1.5 in Nashville. He lost some mph on his heater, I thought, and his control has been shaky this year. Shrug? Biggest thing to me is always peeking to see if the late round drafted high schooler they moved to get him is turning out to be anything in the Dodger system.
  6. Wouldn't hurt to get some middle infield depth that can hit better than either Monasterio or Seigler has. :-) I think Pat does not use his bench much in general, but if he has 4 guys on it all with a role, but also all who could hit enough that he trusts them more, that recipe may change a bit. Bench OF is likely there, and now with Jansen, starting catcher against lefties, with Contreras DHing, is likely a filled role. IF who can defend and hit some, and 1B who hits is likely last. Castro & O'Hearn? Will cost them out of the prospect depth, but more in the Areinamo mid-prospect mode, likely. Crow for one and Cornielle with Quintana for the other?
  7. They sure typically do lowball, with seniors. Yoho. Owens.
  8. Gotta think with the Cubs in town, the Crew would be announcing stuff by 3pm to clear time afterward for all the extra Cub focus.
  9. Well, you don't need to be 18 to go to college. If 18, and offered a bunch more money than you may ever get a chance to make - what if he gets hurt in college and doesn't come back well - in the career you are going into anyway, I would think 99 out of 100 folks take the $$. Just bummed, looking at a ceiling somewhere around a Max Fried/Cole Hamels type. Not a ton of those guys around, ever. Between Levonas last year and Underwood this year, the Crew could rue missing on some future #2 starters.
  10. Completely agree on what is in the system. Just wanted more. :-)
  11. Agreed on the hitting needed. Although we seem to have some strong international groups of late to maybe cover it. Unsure this draft will have the depth without Underwood. Lefty with projection who can also spin the ball, to me, is a $1MM kid, as that seems to be a very limited group to get. Hopefully, the pivot works enough to sign enough of the other high upside kids they picked in 11-20 ... which I thought was a great idea. Just disappointed as Underwood looked to be the potential biggest get. Cadiz does look good. Etc .... Spend the $2.3MM and get 3-4 of the h.s. kids, plus Coil.
  12. Quite the bummer ... The #1, I thought, out of that 11-20 group. Still so confused how a ($750K?) offer does not beat a college offer if this is what you want to do with your life. You are taking the guess that after 3 years of college, you will be a top 60-ish pick ... versus the math involved of this 6 years vs those 6 years. Dunno. Maybe I'm missing something in the college coach relationship (or other relationships) vs the scout/Brewer relationship. Wish the kid the best. Was loving the idea of a Cairone & Underwood bonus to the staff in 2032-7.
  13. So with the 2MM+ remaining, can they sign Hughes, Underwood, Lauridsen, Cadiz, and Roupe? Guessing Bentley & Holden are out of range unless one of those 5 hs sign for $300K or less (probably would only be Roupe). And guessing Coil signs without going overslot. Thoughts? Without any knowledge, it seems Hughes & Roupe may be the cheapest; Hughes due to small school and Roupe having already committed to sign. If Underwood, Lauridsen, and Cadiz all signed for ~$650K ....?
  14. Quite surprised Vucinovich signed for underslot. Wow!
  15. Ha! Smart way to handle that ... So if my math is not too broken, that would have him closer to only 58% of a "pitch totals from 2024 x 1.5" number. Leaving about 1100 for the remainder of this season, although with innings & up and down time also perhaps being a factor.
  16. It sure seems 2026 major league ready pitching is one of the Crew's strengths, and depth. If Suarez is the big piece to acquire this week, shouldn't 2 or even 3 of Gasser, Myers, Crow, Henderson, Carlos Rodriguez, etc ... be the main part of the deal, with maybe a lower minor leaguer (Quintana) as a cherry? Would hate to see them trading not out of their depth, and prefer to keep as many prospect upside guys around as possible,
  17. So funny that my immediate reaction to this trade suggestion wasn't Crow, wasn't Patrick or Myers, but was the 24 high schooler. :-) Really a fan of all of the 23 & 24 high school draftees, and moving even one of them feels a bit like trading a kid. But, there are a number of them, and these deals make a lot of sense.
  18. Has felt for a while this was a very obvious option, for all the reasons you listed. Thanks Harold!
  19. Kept the quality depth. Lost the bulk depth.
  20. Seriously doubt it will be Priester. Too much invested. And the DL Hall/Priester "complete game" has become a great pen rest day.
  21. I really liked the 11-20th round concept of taking a number of high upside guys. If you sign 4 or 5, you may have a bunch of 4th round talents taken late, and possibly cheap. Really a good mindset in the draft based off of their current depth throughout the system, I thought.
