  1. Well, its no conspiracy. There is no IL during the offseason so Gasser has to be on the 40 man roster. This page MLB Trade Rumors states he is likely to go on the 60 day IL once spring training starts with a hope to be back later in the year. Not sure where you got that list, but it looks like the 40 man roster and the NRIs combined.
  2. I agree that that we need to be cautious about DSL guys. They are just too far from the majors to rank them so highly. The Gilbert Lara and Hedbert Perez hype has caused me to pause, but I dont think they are a good comparison to Made. We have much better data on DSL guys now. The peripherals showing contact rate, chase rate, etc show a really special player. I normally initially set DSL guys in the 60s-70s of my top prospect list, but even I have Made at #6 and Pena at #23.
  3. I would be fine if the Brewers claimed him. He would have more value than Capra on this roster and at least he has a good glove at 3b with some pop. His $1M salary should help him sail through waivers to us.
  4. Thank goodness. We are running low on LH pitchers in the upper minors. He does look interesting. Groundball pitcher (sinker) who pitched better as a reliever. He did get rocked overall in AAA and has a 4.00 career ERA as a minor leaguer. Maybe they can squeeze a few more MPH on his sinker. Just not sure how they will find innings for all these guys.
  5. I think the Brewers were just looking to cap what his max salary could be in 2026. $12M (doubling of this year's salary) is a healthy raise. This way they can take the club option if he has a great year and know it wont cost them more than $12M. Or they decline the option, give him $100k, and then go back through the normal arby process (He's arby eligible through 2027). Contreras essentially gets $100k for agreeing to that $12M cap. This seems like a pretty good deal for the Brewers.
  6. I agree. I think Chourio is the fourth best OF on this team (but little separates them all) i also think chourio could have won a gold glove last year. Both statements can be true, as odd as that may sound. It's a nice problem to have, arguing which of your four outfielders is the better fielder.
  7. Today is January 28. Based on history, the Brewers off-season is just getting started
  8. The Forbes valuations are interesting. No way are the Yankees bringing in $130M more in revenue than the Dodgers. That cannot be correct. Dodgers have the largest broadcasting contract and plenty of ticket revenue. It also needs to be pointed out that MLB teams have other operating expenses but it would be surprising if those costs were dramatically different from team to team. For example, the difference between revenue and payroll for the Brewers is $167M. I could see their other expenses could be well over $100M (taxes, non-player salaries, MiLB costs, stadium costs, training facilities, debt payments, etc). But the Yankees have $363M delta between payroll and revenue. No way the Yankees operating costs are $200M more than Brewers. They must be making a lot more in profit.
  9. If you make it through the whole podcast (or skip ahead if you want), they list the Brewers as the third Best future of any org. That surprised me since I would think the financial situation (smallest market, no money to spend) would limit them. But hard to argue a 93 win team with a top 5 minor league system (Aram repeated he thinks the Brewers have the #1 minor league system) and a well run organization.
  10. When i get home I'm going to relisten to the easter Sunday home run calls, and then just let it repeat...
  11. I'll never forget Uek. I was an usher at county stadium back in the 80s. Bob Uecker was so down to earth. He would always stop to chat with us, even though his popularity was so huge back then with TV and movies. Never will forget that he'd come to work on his Harley and we let him in by the bleachers and he'd park in the tunnel under the stands. Always thought it was funny a big star like that would ride a Harley. He was the epitome of Milwaukee.
  12. Great landing spot for Keston. Wish him the best of luck
  13. Good article and am excited to see if Contreras can make further improvements. Still am amazed how we acquired him. It would be a good retrospective article to look back on that trade, but would be almost embarrassing. We still have all three players we received and Oakland just has Ruiz left after a disappointing year. Even Atlanta would have been better off not making that trade.
  14. I see little upside with Bauers, so if he makes the team that means Black failed in spring training. Always good to have depth but I'm not looking forward to another Bauers/Hoskins. Hopefully, Bauers ends up getting an opt out because we dont need him 😉
  15. Those 3 pitchers who become FA next year will also free up $29M (including Woodruff buyout) and Hoskins will free up another $22M. So, in addition to what SF70 stated, there is a good chance they add an experienced starting pitcher or two via trade or free agent with all that money.
  16. I think they viewed last year as year 1 of a soft reboot, with this being the 2nd year. They just happened to win the division last year. That being said, they always want to win.
  17. Agreed on quality. It will be hard to top what Chourio/Ortiz did as well as those pitchers. Though they could have more in quantity, hopefully due to the prospects pushing their way onto the roster and not for other reasons.
  18. This past season we saw a significant number of rookies who contributed to the team. These players exceeded their rookie status in 2024 and played key roles on the club: Chourio, Ortiz, Dunn, Myers, Koenig, and Hudson. That's an impressive list and a large rookie crop that the Brewers have not seen in a long time. The 2025 season could very well surpass that as they have many top 30 prospects and others ready to contribute. I'd expect to see the following play significant roles next year: Misiorowski, Quero, Black, Durbin, Gasser (hopefully), Yoho, Logan Henderson, and Carlos Rodriguez. I could also see help from the following: Ernesto Martinez, Isaac Collins, Mike Boeve, Chad Patrick, Sam Gardner, and Connor Thomas and likely others as the Brewers are great at uncovering diamonds. That's a lot of options from the farm that the Brewers will have next year
  19. You want to be excited for this organization in the future? Listen to this podcast. They could not be more enthusiastic about the Brewers org.
  20. Goldschmidt just signed for $12.5M one year deal. I think he and Hoskins have similar value so believe that is what teams would figure to be a fair salary for Hoskins. Meaning, if we trade Hoskins, we would need to eat $10M in cash just to trade him. Or package prospects to offset that salary. No thank you. I would rather keep Hoskins and hope for a bounce back season.
  21. I think it depends on what the opening day lineup will look like. If it were to stand as it is now, I think Black will get lots of opportunities. Whether that be 1b/DH/OF, and yes 3b. I know he has not looked good there, but he should be working on 3b this offseason and spring training. He has a golden opportunity with that position wide open for the taking. He has too much talent to count him out at this point.
  22. Zero. I think they are at their budget now. They could make some trades to free up cash but I just dont think anyone on the market is a better option than what we have (at the same salary), plus we would be signing them for more years. I think the Brewers stand pat. Maybe they go bargain hunting in February for some depth, but that would be it.
  23. Just baseball is "playing GM of the Brewers": Link Pretty entertaining discussion/debate, but they come to the same conclusion I have come to...
  24. Why do they need Perkins? They have Taylor and Siri
