I noticed that Milton Bradley had a .999 OPS last season, and over a .400 OBP for the second season in a row. I also noticed that he missed 36 games due to injury and was used primarily as a DH last season for the first time in his career. From what I hear he is a great teammate, but seems to lose his mind on occasion. He plays w/ a ton of intensity, and would be a very good middle of the order guy on any team, but due to his personality and injury issues is a giant question mark.

I know he would be a huge risk, but I think that someone will give him a long term deal. The Brewers don't really have a spot for him, unless we don't pick up Cameron's option, and then play Hart or Bradley in CF, but where do you think he will end up, and how much will he get?

I will guess that he goes to an AL club and gets a 3 year 40 million dollar deal w/ and option.

My dream outfield has always been Carl Everett, Milton Bradley and Izzy Alcantera. Signing Milton would be a start.

 

Where he goes and for how much might depend on if he is offered arbitration and if he is a type A, type B, free agent. I certainly would not want to lose a pick to find out if he is sane enough to stay on the field the entire season.

I suppose he could 1B if you traded Fielder. But he 's only played more than 126 games once in his career. I think he stays in the AL as a DH with at best, a 2 year deal.

His acquisition might make Jim Powell's head explode, which is a risk I wouldn't care to take. I still have not heard JP refer to him on air as anything other than "Meltdown Bradley," and how long ago was that outburst?

Not to go way off topic, but Powell seems to have a set list of guys he isn't shy of talking negatively about. He's definitely mentioned Bradley quite a bit like that. I know Sidney Ponson is another one.

I heard Bradley doesn't even believe in dinosaurs. No way I want someone like that anywhere near our young core!

 

EDIT: I thought that was an old Onion article, but upon google searching, it turns out that I was confusing Carl Everet who actually does not believe in dinosaurs...I'm not trying to make fun of anyone's religious believes.

I've thought about Bradley before, but only in a scenario in which Fielder is traded while having Bradley fill in the least physically demanding position on the field. However, as noted, given the injury/crazy factor, not to mention the money he's looking for (even if he's unlikely to get what he's asking for), he just isn't a very good match for the Brewers, or any team that needs to be super conscious about what kind of money they invest into whom.

I didn't create the thread to say the Brewers should go after him as much as to find out where others think he will end up, and if you think that somebody will risk giving him a long term deal.

 

I remember hearing how much he's changed at the all-star game, and how great of a teammate he is from guys like Michael Young and Josh Hamilton, and now I'm curious to see if things like that and him staying problem but not injury free for a year will help teams focus less on Milton Bradley the headcase, and more on how great of a baseball player he is.

That's his line outside of Arlington this year. Which isn't bad at all, but then you throw in that if he had to play the OF he would be hurt by the second week of the season. And you have to consider his head and him being out of control. I would pass.

According to Nick Cafardo from the Boston Globe the Cubs are in intense discussions w/ Milton Bradley. I was under the impression that he was going to have to be a DH and part time outfielder. If they sign him and he is healthy and stays fairly sane, adding a 1.000 OPS lefty bat would make there lineup very scary.

Considering their rotation might be Zambrano, Peavey, Harden, Dempster, and Lilly, they could have 8 Craig Counsells in their lineup and it would be scary.

I thought the Cubs had a pretty strict limit on payroll this year, by adding Bradley at $10M+ and Peavy they would adding on quite a bit of payroll without getting rid of a whole lot. I find it highly unlikely that they find a suitor for Marquis who is willing to take on most of the salary

That would give them an outfield of Soriano, Fukudome/Johnson, and Bradley. Their defense would be terrible in my mind.
