The thread in which we try to predict whether Josh Gasser will get his first triple double before or after his junior season

...and everyone in the state circles December 11, 2010 on their Calendars (for that all-important UW-M @ South Dakota State Jackrabbits game, and not the other thing).

Since the season is already underway, and I don't see a thread, I took it upon myself to start one.

Thanks, bjkrautk. I'd thought about starting this just yesterday and didn't get around to it.

I'm headed to the epic UW-UND matchup shortly. I'll be sure to throw in a "Racist Mascot!" chant for the faithful here at Brewerfan.

Josh Gasser is from the same high school I went to (Port Washington). I'm shocked that someone from Port plays D-I basketball for a major program. A lot has changed over the past 10 years. When I was in school, we had a year where we didn't win a game, and a year where we won 1. I was gleaming with pride Sunday night when I was listening to the game.

I know it's North Dakota, but Wisconsin is in mid-season form tonight. As usual, the shot selection, ball movement, and rebounding are especially impressive. It's amazing how much consistency Bo has brought to the program.

Duje Dukan appears to have a little fan club in the student section already. I suppose it's not fair to judge on just a "mug shot," but he looks like he has, or needs, a closet full of polo shirts with popped collars:

And for those of you following from afar, Mike Bruesewitz grew his crew cut out:

It reminds me a bit of Zach Morley from a few years back, except it's groomed.

Gasser only scored 7 tonight? He sucks.

What I like about him is that he's leading the team in rebounds with 15. Led the team in the opener and tied to the lead tonight.

Wasn't able to make it to tonight's game, but he sure looked like a starter and then some against PVAMU.

Now if they could just be a little less dissapointing in March.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Gasser was in foul trouble tonight.
Box score says he had two. Did they come early?
Yes, both in fairly rapid succession in the first half; so Josh sat for a chunk of that half.

Yep. I'm a huge Badger fan, but I really feel as though I've been sucked in for the last time until they actually make a run in March. Last year I was telling everyone they'd make a deep run, and then they lost to another mid-major. It's like they turn into a different team.

Dukan and Brust should have both redshirted.

Although it's possible they both improve enough to get PT later on in the year.

I think they get a couple of games at the beginning of the season before they decide if they have to redshirt, don't they? I seem to remember someone playing the first 2-3 games of the season and then redshirting without it being a medical redshirt.

The can play the exhibitions but not regular games.

I can't believe Bo Ryan doesn't have a better in-bounds play to run than that when the opposition is bringing five quick guards. Shouldn't there be a go-to play in that situation that at least attempts to create an open man? Not exactly setting up the players to succeed.

I don't know. I think isolating 6'10" Leuer on a 6'2" guard in the post was enough to create an open man. I just have no idea what Bruesewitz was thinking by not throwing the ball up. Either before the timeout or after.

During a second-half time out in the Wisconsin-UWM game tonight, the two schools' chancellors had a free throw shooting contest. Biddy Martin put on a show, pounding down twelve free throws in a minute to beat the UWM (interim) chancellor. It was a sight to behold.

I'm kind of surprised that the UW-MU game came and went with no game-day commentary.

Meanwhile, at the UW-UWGB game tonight, I saw someone in the student section rocking a Brewers downflap cap, and would love to know if it was one of you guys.

Has our student section been that sad for all our games so far? I went to my first Badgers home game last night and was shocked when I walked in after the game started to see that the first level was less than half full...
