Taylor Williams will be a major surprise to most casual fans, but not to most of us.

I'm a little surprised not to see Wang on the list unless it's still incomplete.

still one open spot I believe? Hopefully that goes to Wang.

So when we strip away the players now on the 40-man, we're left with this pool of players (pending subsequent moves) who could be lost in Rule 5 -- would most consider RHP David Goforth the 39th man of the 39 on the roster right now? If the Brewers lose Wei-Chung Wang, for instance, you could point to the decision to continue to goforth on Goforth.

I think the two most likely to picked are:

1) Wang: Numbers pretty much the definition of solid but not spectacular, but he's a lefty and I could see a team wanting to give him a shot in the bullpen.

2) Miguel Diaz: The type of power arm that will frequently get plucked out of the lower minors. Might be 50/50 to get picked and 50/50 to stick if he does.

While there seems to be one exception each year (Cave, Deshields) most of the hitters picked are coming off better seasons than Taylor and Coulter and Wren's lower upside makes him somewhat less likely.

I really think they should have added Wang or still consider adding him. Unlike other rule 5 draft guys if he is selected then the Brewers don't really have a chance of getting him back as he will become a free agent if not retained by the drafting team since this would be his second time drafted.

Yea, there's literally a dozen guys left unprotected I would have on the 40 man over Goforth.

Walker is an interesting acquisition. It could be a sign that we fully expect Braun to be traded this offseason and are preparing for spring training competition with the corner OF spots.

It could mean that the consideration given to non-tendering or trading Carter is legitimate and they feel that Walker can be a cost-effective replacement.

Or it could mean absolutely nothing more than us wanting to add depth in the minors with a guy that we liked.

We'll find out eventually.
