The one thing I want to complain about in movies and in TV series are all of the unnecessary sex scenes.  It is fine if it is an important part of a characters development.  But 99% of the sex scenes in movies or TV shows should be cut out.  Majority of the time it is in there just to have that scene but it doesn't move the plot along or the characters development.

Game of Thrones is guilty of this a lot of times.  A lot of the sex scenes are just unnecessary and don't move the plot along or help with the characters development.  Though that series is also a good example of how to do good sex scenes.  I think they just went overboard after awhile on these and it was more we need to have one in this episode quick throw one in than it was developing the character or furthering along the story.

Another rant done.

I don't have a problem with sex or violence in movies with the appropriate rating. I do however agree with people who have criticized American culture saying people get offended by the sight of a woman's breasts but don't seem to have any issues with serial killers, murders, decapitations, severed limbs, city destroying bombs, etc. etc. And the movies with violence seem to have a lower threshold to clear for a desirable rating (like PG-13) than nudity or sex. As I said, I'm generally not bothered by any of those things but there are movies where I will draw the line and typically it's the violence that exceeds my tolerance limits, not sex or nudity. I'm thinking of those torture for the sake of showing gratuitous torture movies like Hostel or other ones like it. I'm assuming about that movie too because I haven't seen it. I have no desire to watch that stuff.

Game of Thrones went pretty heavy on the sex and nudity in earlier seasons but I felt like they toned it down in later ones. I could be wrong, I'm not that sensitive to that type of scene so maybe there was still some over the top stuff that wasn't that memorable for me.

Ghostbusters : Afterlife

I'm late to the party on this one, but wife and I watched it tonight for the first time.

Light year's better than the female version they put out a few years ago.  Not one mention of that movie or those characters in Afterlife, so I'm assuming the studio would like us all to forget it existed, and rightfully so.

Anyway, enjoyed this one quite a bit.  Having the original guys make appearances in the film was an ingenious touch.  Just tickled me to see them in those old roles again.  Hopefully they will be back for the new one coming out this year.

Madame Web is not a must see movie unless you want to watch a train wreck that has no plot.  Somehow Morbius is actually a better movie than Madame Web.

I have seen amateur movies with more of a plot.  Heck a family video from the 1970's probably has more plot than Madame Web.  No idea how or why this movie even made it past the hey we have this idea stage.  It is absolute garbage.

Just another movie to add to the Super Hero over-kill...  I'm pretty much done with them all.

I want to go to a movie tomorrow, but don't see a single one that I have any interest in seeing.  This happens a lot.  Kind of sad that I want to spend my money, but there isn't anything to spend it on.

The next two movies I want to see are Deadpool 3 and Dune: Part Two.  Dune: Part Two comes out on 3/1.

I really wish Marley was a better movie. There is clearly an audience for a movie about him. Even though the movie only focused on a couple of years of his life it was still very surface level stuff. If they were going to have the movie take place in the mid to late 70's I wish they would have told the movie until his death in 1981. Zimbabwe and his death was covered with a couple of sentences at the end of the movie. Maybe there will be a better do over movie at some point after seeing how much money this one made.

I'm off to see The Zone of Interest tonight to wrap up my Oscars Best Picture watch.

So far, I've only disliked one, Maestro, and thought the rest were all good, worthwhile pictures that make this one of the better years of nominees.

I kind of want to catch Stop Making Sense tonight at the Oriental, but it's a busy weekend.

I find it odd that your prior post to this one (on the same day no less) was about how people get too easily offended.

Have you seen American Fiction? I loved it.

I am not offended it is just that some scenes don’t advance the plot or are not part of a character’s development hence the unnecessary part.

Scenes should advance the plot or be part of a characters development otherwise it is just a time filler.  I don’t mind the nudity or sex or violence as long as it is moving the plot or is an integral part of a character’s development.

I explained further down in my post what I was referring to about the unnecessary part.

That can go for swearing and the like when they are inserted to get a specific rating. As a father that vets movies for his kids, it annoys me to see stuff inserted to be PG13 or R when it was completely unnecessary.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

I don’t like the rating system at all and I will leave it at that.

Keeping all these in the collection, nothing new to add to the dump pile yet:

Bad Boys Trilogy - Fun movies to watch, but the way the third one ended, I don't think I'll be interested in anything from that franchise in the future...  I find Will Smith to be irritating these days since his ridiculous hissy fit with Chris Rock.

Behind Enemy Lines - Not one of my favorite war movies, but still a fun watch...  Took me a little while to buy Owen Wilson in this role, but once I got used to him, it was fine.

Best of Enemies - Love this movie!

Big Daddy - Good movie to watch to kill some time or take your mind off things.  Not a huge Sandler guy myself, but this one is entertaining.

The Big Lewbowski - I am not into this movie as much as a lot of people, and I realize it has a pretty big cult following, but I do like it, so it's a keeper.

Beverley Hills Cop Trilogy - Kept them all!

Barfly - Something about this movie always brings me back.  Keeper!

Black Swan - An interesting, and at times disturbing and confusing, movie.  This is the first time I have seen it (bought the dvd on a whim a couple years ago but never watched it until now), and don't feel the need to watch it again.  Loved the ending though.  (Plus, I love Natalie and Mila!  A definite bonus if you've seen the movie)

I went to see Dune 2 today. The cinematography and acting were excellent. The story itself was really awful. It jumped all over the place and generally was a hodgepodge. I really enjoyed the first one but this one kinda sucked.

I disagree the story was a bit off but was easy to follow at least for me but I have read the book.  So maybe that is why I was able to follow it.

Story wasn’t the greatest but I still loved the movie.  Probably the best movie I have seen in awhile.

Yes I am sure reading the book would have helped. On the way out I heard the people in front of us saying "*** was that?" It looks like there will be another one and I'll give it a chance when it comes out.

"Poor Things" was enjoyable as hell!  I went because there wasn't anything else I wanted to see, and I left pretty glad I saw it.

It's kind of a mess at times, but I found myself drawn to the entire storyline, and Emma Stone was unbelievable!!!

Tons of gratuities sex scenes, but in all honesty, they were pretty much needed for the storyline, and done in sometimes pretty humorous ways.

Might buy this on dvd to add to the collection...

Back to the thinning of the heard.

Watched both Bill and Ted movies last week, and though there are some pretty funny lines and scenes throughout them both, I don't feel the need to see them again.

Dumped them both.
