Back to the thinning of the heard.

Watched both Bill and Ted movies last week, and though there are some pretty funny lines and scenes throughout them both, I don't feel the need to see them again.

Dumped them both.

Both?  Are we choosing to live in a world where Bill & Ted Face the Music no longer exists?

lol

I don't own the third one, saw it, thought it was dumb, and didn't add it to the collection.

Forgot to mention Billy Madison.  Kept it, but like Big Daddy, could have dumped it.  Still enjoy it so kept it.

BLASPHEMY!  Billy Madison is only second to Happy Gilmore for Adam Sandler movies!

Blades of Glory - Kept this one, just a lot of funny stuff going on in this movie.  I don't remember it being this funny, so it's a keeper.

Blazing Saddles - Need I say more?  Just a classic that could never be made today...  I'm not even sure if young people who have never seen it would even think it's funny.  Anyone that is uptight for any reason at all just shouldn't watch this movie.  KEEPER!

Black Hawk Down - Intense movie...  Keeper.

Went and saw Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire yesterday.

Great movie theater flick!  Entertaining the entire way through.  Felt the gay undertones between Phoebe and the ghost were completely unnecessary, but that is todays Hollywood.

Well worth seeing if anyone is on the fence and saw the last one...

DVD DUMPAGE:

Bleacher Bums - Based on a play, and you can really tell by watching the movie.  Bought this on a whim many years ago, and after watching it back then, I didn't care for it, but thought I'd give it another shot someday.  Yesterday was that day, and I didn't like it any better.  It's about a bunch of people hanging out in the bleachers of a fictional  MLB team which is obviously based on the Cubs.  The entire movie takes place during one game.  Mostly a gambling theme, interpersonal situations, and even a rain delay.  lol  Anyway, I wouldn't recommend it.

Went to see Civil War today.  I really liked it, but it wasn't what I expected at all...  Was super happy that today's  politics didn't play a role.  They left the reason for the war itself pretty vague.  No right vs the left, no wokeness vs conservatism, nothing.  It was refreshing, and I wondered how they would address today's climate.  Basically, they didn't.  I won't post anything else in case people still plan to see it.

Best of the 2024 Milwaukee Film Festival hasn't been very surprising.  I highly recommend Monster and Do Not Expect too Much From the End of the World.

Watched Miller's Girl on Netflix. It's the movie there's been some controversy over the depiction of an age gap relationship between a high school teacher played by Martin Freeman and a student played by Jenna Ortega. The age gap between the actors themselves is part of the criticism since they are doing what actors do by performing the actions of the characters and Freeman is 30 years Ortega's senior. This did not bother me in the slightest, these are adult professionals.

I thought all the actors were really good, Ortega is fantastic as usual. The story was interesting and suspenseful up to a point but I'm not sure the ending was executed in a satisfying way even though I'm not sure if I would change anything. Overall I thought it was worth the watch.

Saw Abigail... I don't typically go to a lot of horror movies, but this one looked interesting.

I really liked it, kept me entertained all the way through.

DVD Collection update:

Beetlejuice - Never really got the cult status or the hype for this one.  Not even sure why I had it in my collection since I never cared for it to begin with.  Watched it tonight, still didn't like it, it's a goner...

The Blindside - Liked it when it came out, but the semi-recent controversy soured me this time through.  Not yet sure if I'm keeping this one, will have to think on it...

BIG - Classic movie, it's a keeper!

Baby Driver - Really like this one!  Keeper.

I was around 10 when I first saw Beetlejuice. Always thought it could have been better, not enough Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice but one of those movies that still gets play today and my kids even watch. Looking forward to the long awaited sequel this year.

Blue Chips - Always really liked this movie, and sends a good message about the crookedness of college basketball and college sports in general.   Keeper!

The Blue Lagoon - I have a soft spot for this movie.  Just a great watch and happy to learn that the 14 year old Brooke Shields was not nude in this movie, but instead, they had a 32 year old stunt double fill in for the nakedness.  lol  Keeper.

Blair Witch Project - This was scary as hell in the theater back in the day.  Add to the mystery that a lot of people thought this was actually real footage from the missing filmmakers at the time...(pre internet boom, so it was easy to make people believe stuff)  Anyway, keeping it for nostalgia's sake, but it was fun to watch again.

Really good movie just watched it. I liked the idea of following the photojournalists as a way of exploring the conflict. Not sure I liked the ending.

Have watched a few movies recently:

Argylle: Sucked. Tried waaay too hard to have twists and it was just not well written. It was disappointing because the cast was good.

Napoleon: Not great. A movie like that should be more focused and it kinda seemed random.

Masters of the Air: Not a movie but this was great!

I subbed to Apple TV for a month when the Crew played on that random Friday.

My wife and I watched "Argylle" a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it.  But the whole shoot-out in the colored smoke scene and the skating in oil scene just killed the movie for me.  Those were just dumb.  And then I saw it was the same director (?) from those "The Kingsmen" movies and it then made complete sense.

Still was dumb.

Overall, I still liked it, though.

Need to watch Masters of the Air this summer.  Napoleon is on our radar, too.

Been meaning to watch Masters of the Air. Glad to hear its good.

Argylle I think is just dumb fun, not meant to be taken seriously.

Napoleon I 100% agree. I had high expectations with Joaquin Phoenix and it was a really big let down.

Next up for me on Tuesday is the new Planet of the Apes flick.  I've liked them all so far, so it's a must see for me.

Time to break out Band of Brothers for my yearly viewing.

There's actually a pretty good documentary on the making of it where they interview a lot of the guys portrayed in it.

It is also on Netflix now!  Also if anyone hasn't seen Band of Bothers then you don't like good things and you are an evil person who needs to be tortured by having baby shark on repeat for eternity.

Band of Bothers seems like a great show🤪

If you're ever in New Orleans, check out the WWII museum. There's an entire exhibit on Easy Company.

This is random.

I've been mitigating family health issues that have resulted in me flying Delta-- California to Florida somewhat regularly. Is it weird that coming back my tradition is now to catch some sleep by watching Band of Brothers? While subject matter is uncomfortable, its somehow comfortable....like an old man falling asleep to a war movie. I wonder what the other passengers think.
