Guy can't catch up with high heat, and he gets a pitch in the hitting zone.

 

To be fair...it was pretty low and out of the zone.

 

It was a good pitch. Baez just hit it. Terrible luck for us and great luck for the Cubs like they have had all month. Sucks.

Jeffress pitched really well, and I think he was a step late covering first because his instinct was that the 2B fields it easily. Thats why the fundamental move for the pitcher is always start heading to first on anything hit to the right side.

On the bright side, if this goes like 12 innings the Cubs will use like 8 pitchers.

Braun has had about 8 thousand opportunities for a big clutch hit in the last 2 games. There could not be a bigger time than this inning.

That run is on Counsell for overthinking it. Thames may not be a gold glover but he's the best defensive 1B we've got. Putting Walker there is just stupid.

 

Agreed here. Didn't go with his best defense to close it out and we'll most likely pay for it now.
