I will say, after a frustrating night at work, that is the way to send me home happy. And after waiting all night for the Cubs game to end, the Brewers making the comeback decisive was doubly appreciated.

I'd love to know what Braun was jaw-jacking about all the way around the bases, because he did not shut up from the time he left the batters box until he was rounding third. He was fired UP.

Great question, I was wondering the same.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Braun’s home run was a roller coaster ride if you listened to Uke. His call was, “Braun struck out ... did he foul tip it? ... get out of here, gone!” Hopefully when he’s back in his routine at Miller Park he’ll get back on his game.

Ueck is an absolute treasure but he's definitely slipping significantly the past few years. He had no idea what happened on the play.

You know, that is one thing that hasn't come up much with Braun's move to 1B. Not only is he closer to fans, he's also closer to the opposing team's dugout in some stadiums. I wonder if he was hearing some jaw jacking from the dugout while on defense?

Great hit by Braun, but I have to wonder what the opposing coach was thinking. His closer pitched two innings yesterday, was clearly gassed and was a lefty pitching to Braun. I think the quote goes:

You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - the most famous of which is "never get involved in a land war in Asia" - but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never pitch a lefty to Ryan Braun when the game is on the line!"

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Really? Wow, that was clearly gone off the bat. Maybe the look back tricked him? Yikes Ueck.

Small sample size notwithstanding, but these first two games feel very like 2 we would have lost in the last few years. You can't win 162, without going 2-0!

Couple of game notes:

1) I hope Woodruff is ok. Couple of rockets off the body can't be great, especially the one of the throwing shoulder. He has a week to heal. Counsell said he was fine after the game but still..

2) Our bench is going to be great. Aguilar with a great AB in the 9th.

3) Props Villar. Swung wildly at a pitch 18 inches off the plate earlier in the AB and I was silently just hoping to avoid a double play ... I'll have my crow in the morning.

4) Welcome to Milwaukee Dan Jennings. Stick around awhile...

5) All Chacin does is get team wins in San Diego...

I didn't hear the radio call, but if Uecker truly thought that was either a swing and a miss or a foul tip.......yikes.

My guess is that Braun’s reaction of immediately turning his head and shoulders back towards the plate may have thrown him off, but still not a great sign.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Well that was fun! And a lot of us there to enjoy it. When the Brewers started coming to San Diego 20 years ago there'd be maybe 15 Brewer fans in the park. Even the UW club outing was about 2/3 Padres fans. A big change, starting about 10 years ago.

The mlb.com recap and Must C clips have only the back end of Ueck's call. Now I know why.

Back tomorrow for the sweep!

I'm glad I stayed up for this.

I'm in the eastern time zone and I couldn't stay up. It was fun watching replays this morning. :)

He has been getting it from fans for 5 years. It can't be any fun to be booed everywhere you go (and even at Miller Park when Cubby fans take over :tongue ) so if he was jaw-jacking there I don't blame him.

Ah Jeez. I went to sleep when it got to 6-3. What a win!

I still stand by my posts here. Braun should be our everyday 1B and Chacin was a really bad signing.

I love nothing more than when everyone is saying the game is over etc. and the Brewers pull out the win. Never give up people. Though last year it felt like the Brewers never made late game comebacks.

New year, new team. I love how the cherry on the top was done by a guy who has looked pretty rough the first two games too. One second you are struggling and the next you are having one of the biggest hits of the year and we are only two games into the season. That was some vintage 2011/2012 Braun. Hope he shows up more often.

Also the talking around the bases was to himself...can almost assure that. Braun is the kind of guy who does that. No one from the opposing dugout is going to harass him while he is at first. If he was saying something about the Padres a bench clearing would have happened (remember Gomez a few times).

This - Ueck could have been watching a monitor, because I just watched the highlights on MLB network and when I saw Braun's reaction (the way he turned his head and shoulders) I thought he popped out and was frustrated. His hearing might be going, and with crowd noise might not have been able to hear the ball off the bat.
