Sometimes I wonder how often line umpires are completely daydreaming on a check swing and are forced to just guess in the moment, which it it happens is pretty embarrassing for them. If you've sat anywhere down even in the outfield seats you know it is not at all difficult to tell if a batter obviously offered or obviously didn't.
