Wade Miley laying out saved a runner on second, I think. He's going all out. They're taking him out. I'd keep him in, especially with Blackmon, but I get it. Turn it over to your strength in the bullpen. Fantastic outing, Mr. Miley.

For those not watching, it was a laser shot that Braun was running on contact since it was 2 outs and it hit his backfoot. Every single runner in baseball does exactly the same thing and Braun did nothing at all wrong. Just people that like to complain over everything doing their thing.

Awesome job Miley. I thought we might give him the lefty but still an awesome job.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I would have left Miley in there for one more out with the pitcher's spot up fifth next inning.

90 mph exit velocity, not really a laser shot.

I just write it down to the stress of being in the playoffs. Lots of negativity in these game threads considering we are up two games to nothing and haven't been trailing this postseason :laughing

No, not every player does that...actually the first time I have ever seen a player voluntarily hurdle a baseball when he could have waited and jogged to the next base.

Do you take Knebel out after one batter if his spots comes up in the order with two men on base?

Excellent start from Miley. Did the job asked of him, even if he didn’t quite get through 5 IP.

I hope Counsell has the bullpen lineup figured out to close out the game. Getting a few insurance runs would be most helpful.

It looks like we're about 50/50 on whether it was bad luck or a bad play. I don't sense hardly any negativity in this thread, so let's agree to disagree?

Wonder if Counsels pep talk included: “Win today, or you will be playing with frost on your hat by the end of the game tomorrow”.

Jeffress: "Oh god, not this Frosty Boys thing again..."

I get not letting him go third time through, but why not keep him in for the lefty?

Blackmon is pretty good against LHP's. It's more important to have him face someone else - especially a flamethrower after seeing Miley 2 times - than it is to have him face an LHP.

I'm more surprised that they let Miley hit if they were only gonna let him stay in the game for a 1-2-3 inning. A lead-off at-bat from the 9 hole is a pretty important spot, and the difference between a good hitter and bad one in that spot makes a big difference in your chances of scoring a run during the inning.

Yes, the lead is solid and our pen is loaded.
